March 31, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
CHILENO VALLEY The Highway Patrol at 2:53 a.m. Sunday received a report that a car had crashed on Chileno Valley Road and that the two occupants appeared unhurt. Officers could not locate the wreck.
STINSON BEACH Deputies received at least two calls around 3:05 a.m. Sunday from residents who reported hearing a large explosion near the Stinson Beach Grill. A deputy searched the area on foot but found nothing amiss.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 9:07 a.m. Sunday reported that a man parked at the gas station was beating his dog. A deputy arrived on the scene within minuteS, but by then the man was gone.
POINT REYES STATION A woman reported at 11:45 a.m. Sunday that her adult daughter was yelling and was under the influence of drugs. The daughter told a deputy that she had a prescription for the drug, but the deputy determined shed exceeded her prescribed dosage. She was transported to the county's crisis unit at Marin General Hospital.
WOODACRE A woman at 12:14 p.m. Sunday reported she'd just had a quarrel with her husband and that he may have cut her phone lines.
BOLINAS A man at 6:36 p.m. Sunday told deputies he had been hit over the head with a telephone receiver while at a payphone downtown. The man said he had told a second man, who was using the payphone, that he needed to make a call. The man then attacked him, he said. A deputy found blood on the receiver but did not find the assailant.
MARSHALL A woman at 7:16 p.m. Saturday reported when she came home, she found blood on her back deck, and one of her dogs was missing. The woman later found a note that said the dog had been hit by a car.
STINSON BEACH An anonymous caller reported at 8:18 p.m. Saturday that six youths on the beach had a bonfire. The youths told a deputy they had parental permission to be there and were vacationing in town. The deputy, in turn, told the parents that beach fires are illegal and had the bonfire extinguished.
BOLINAS A resident at 9:05 p.m. Saturday told deputies that 12 youths were gathered around a large bonfire. The deputy noted the youths were not being loud but nonetheless told them to put out their fire. The agreed to do so.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 10:27 p.m. Saturday told deputies her husband had struck her in the eye and had thrown clothes at her. She asked that he be escorted out of the house. She said he was in the room with her and aware she was on the phone with law enforcement.
MARSHALL The Highway Patrol at 11:02 p.m. Saturday received a call that a vehicle was nose down in a ditch along the Marshall-Petaluma Road.
BOLINAS A resident at 10:45 p.m. Friday complained that 15 youths were building a bonfire on the beach and breaking bottles. Deputies found 25 youths but no alcohol. They agreed to put out the fire.
BOLINAS A man reported at 9:04 a.m. Saturday that he was very upset that there were people sleeping on the beach and that there was broken glass strewn about the beach. A deputy found five to six campers asleep and a smoldering bonfire.
POINT REYES STATION Medics at 12:58 p.m. Saturday responded when a bicyclist fell down at Highway 1 and the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. The bicyclist was not seriously injured but received a road rash on her face. She was transported by ambulance to Marin General Hospital.
PLATFORM BRIDGE Deputies received a report at 3:55 p.m. Saturday that a minivan had overturned. Medics responded.
TOMALES A youth at 2:08 a.m. Saturday told deputies his vehicle had been run off the Highway 1 four to five miles south of Tomales. A deputy, who noted the youth had not been drinking, said the driver did not want to file a report since the damage was less than $400. He told the officer he would tow the vehicle himself.
BOLINAS A woman at 9:28 a.m. Friday reported that an hour earlier she'd had a confrontation with a man and a woman camping in an RV on Overlook Drive. The couple had told her they would be back, she said and asked for extra patrols in the neighborhood.
BOLINAS The Highway Patrol at 2:01 p.m. Friday responded after receiving a report that a moving van was hanging off the edge of a cliff along Terrace Avenue.
FOREST KNOLLS A man at 2:59 p.m. Friday told deputies he was concerned about his 26-year-old daughter because she had not been in contact since Wednesday. He did not want to report her missing, he said but added that she had been acting suicidal.
INVERNESS A woman at 4:01 p.m. Friday told deputies she had been illegally video taped. A deputy gave her advice.
INVERNESS A woman at 9:12 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies she had seen a flashlight flicker on and off at her carport.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 10:11 p.m. last Thursday told deputies her 17-year-old son had not returned home after taking a drug-test the previous Friday. She had spoken to him on the phone, and he was still attending school, she said. A deputy gave her advice.
SAN GERONIMO A school official at 8:07 a.m. last Thursday requested that a deputy be present while she searched a students locker.
WOODACRE A man at 11:45 a.m. last Thursday complained that a woman, whom he had hired to housesit while he was gone, was still living in the house even though he had returned a week ago. He said the woman had flooded his kitchen, trashed his house, run up a large phone bill, and was refusing to leave.
STINSON BEACH A Mill Valley woman at 1:46 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies her daughter and four friends aged 17 and 18 had been camping in Stinson Beach and had not returned home. She noted her daughter had called at 10:30 p.m. to say they were on their way.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 10:11 p.m. last Wednesday reported strange noises coming from her basement. She said that she and her daughter were afraid to open the door. A deputy determined that the family's cat was trapped in the basement and freed it.
FOREST KNOLLS The Highway Patrol at 8:20 a.m. last Wednesday received a report that a vehicle was in San Geronimo Creek near the postoffice. Officers concluded that the vehicle had been abandoned there.
WOODACRE A man at 9:06 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies his elderly father had not phoned in days, which was unusual. The phone was off the hook, he said, and he was concerned. A deputy determined that the elderly man was fine but that his phone was broken.
SAN GERONIMO A woman at 9:25 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies she was receiving harassing calls and emails from a man trying to date her. She said he would not take no for an answer. However, she asked deputies not to contact the man and said she would block his emails and phone calls herself.
POINT REYES STATION A 56-year-old man at 2:50 p.m. last Wednesday reported having chest pains. Medics transported him to Kaiser Hospital.
TOMALES A resident at 10:04 p.m. March 22 reported that a car with no license plate was parked at the Regional History Center. When the resident drove past, someone in the car switched its headlights off. A deputy could not find the car.
INVERNESS Medics responded at 10:31 p.m. March 22 when a 74-year-old man with diabetes reported extreme pain in a leg.
INVERNESS A Callendar Way resident at 1:53 a.m. March 22 reported that a large tree had fallen, blocking the roadway.
INVERNESS A Dream Farm Road resident at 1:54 a.m. March 22 reported that an oak tree three to four feet in diameter had fallen, blocking the roadway. Asked if it was the same tree blocking Callendar Way, the resident said, "No."
BOLINAS A resident at 9:12 p.m. March 21 reported a fallen tree was blocking Horseshoe Hill Road. Bolinas firefighters and a county Public Works crew responded.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 7:53 a.m. March 21 reported hearing explosions. A deputy determined the explosive sounds were coming from a device that an organic farmer was using to ward off birds.
SAN GERONIMO A deputy at 8:37 a.m. March 21 found a man sleeping in a sedan. The deputy, who remembered seeing the sleeper a few nights earlier, told him to move along.
OLEMA A woman at 8:44 a.m. March 21 complained that a southbound Honda was speeding on Highway 1 and passing cars illegally. Deputies determined they could not respond in a timely manner since the nearest was on a call in the San Geronimo Valley at the time.
INVERNESS A resident at 4:05 p.m. March 21 reported two vehicles had run off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard near Ottingers Hill.
BOLINAS A woman at 4:08 p.m. March 21 told deputies her ex-boyfriend had stolen parts off of her car. A deputy gave her advice.
March 24, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
STINSON BEACH A woman on Buena Vista Avenue reported at 8:32 p.m. Monday that a man that had stalked and harassed her two years ago had just called her to ask what she was doing. Deputies told the woman they would step up patrols in her neighborhood.
INVERNESS A woman on Inverness Way reported at 8:35 a.m. Monday reported that a neighbors black Labrador had bitten a bed & breakfast guest. The bite she said, had left a mark on their pants leg, and had not broken the skin. Deputies told her to call the humane society when it opens at 10 a.m.
BOLINAS A man on Brighton Avenue reported at 1:24 p.m. Sunday that "kite surfers" were failing to give way to other surfers in the water and asked if anything could be done about them.
BOLINAS A woman reported at 3:53 p.m. Sunday that a 1985 Chevy pickup truck had driven into a ditch on the Olema-Bolinas Road. There were no reported injuries and CHP handled the crash.
LAGUNITAS A man on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard reported at 9:17 p.m. Sunday that a vehicle, possibly a Saab, had gone off the road about a quarter mile west of the Inkwells. He said that he doubted anyone was inside the crashed car.
OLEMA A deputy responded to a burglar alarm at the Olema Campground at 7:11 a.m. Saturday. It had been mistakenly activated by a new campground employee, the deputy reported.
STINSON BEACH A 47-year-old woman on Highway 1 reported at 7:14 a.m. Saturday that she had been vomiting and suffering from chest pains since 1 a.m. She said she had been hospitalized last week for the same symptoms. Medics responded.
MARSHALL A 50-year-old man called at 10:04 a.m. Saturday to ask deputies advice about a restraining order he had been served with. He said the man who had taken out the 50 yard restraining order against him operated a business on the ranch where he lived. Deputies hgave him advice.
STINSON BEACH A man on Panoramic Highway reported at 10:53 a.m. Saturday that his toolshed had been broken into and appeared to have been occupied in the last 48 hours. A computer laptop and some tools had been stolen, he reported.
POINT REYES STATION A 3rd Street merchant reported at 11:38 a.m. Saturday that a womans ex-boyfriend was very angry and was throwing things around the store. The man had left by the time a deputy arrived.
LAGUNITAS A woman on Corona Avenue reported at 2:36 p.m. Saturday that she is concerned about her son who left for the day against her wishes. She said her son had become unmanageable but had committed no crime.
PLATFORM BRIDGE The Highway Patrol at 3:11 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that it was arresting a hit-and-run suspect who had damaged a fence in Tomales.
BOLINAS WYE County firefighters requested help closing the southbound lane of Highway 1 at 4:39 p.m. Saturday while they responded to a crash. The Highway Patrol responded.
POINT REYES STATION A Highway 1 resident at 10:30 p.m. Saturday reported hearing a noise in the backyard and seeing a shadow. Deputies found nothing amiss.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies received a 911-hangup call at 12:24 a.m. Saturday. A dispatcher traced the call to a Mesa Road address, but a deputy could not find the address nor did it appear on any emergency route maps.
FOREST KNOLLS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:20 a.m. Friday told deputies he had put up signs for a lost purse, promising a reward for its recovery. He told officers that a caller reported having found the purse and was now expecting a large cash reward. Deputies gave advice.
TOMALES A woman at the high school reported at 1:04 p.m. Thursday that a male employee in his 40s was having chest pains. He had no history of health problems and his pulse was strong, she said. Medics responded.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A woman on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard reported at 2:27 p.m. Thursday that someone had charged $372.10 at Kragen Auto Parts on her credit card last October. She said she discovered this in January. She said that her mail had been stolen last October and believes the crimes are related.
BOLINAS A woman at 3:16 p.m. Thursday reported having a quarrel with a neighbor over a dog. She said the neighbor had just dumped a load of construction materials in her Dumpster and that she was more upset about the dumping than the dispute involving the dog.
POINT REYES STATION Someones lost wallet was turned in at the sheriffs substation at 3:25 p.m. Thursday.
MUIR BEACH A woman at 4:08 p.m. last Thursday reported a 72-year-old man had fallen while getting out of bed and was now too weak to get up. He was conscious and breathing but unsure if he was injured, she said. Medics responded.
MARSHALL A resident reported at 9:26 p.m. Thursday that an 11-year-old boy was having chest and abdominal pains when taking deep breaths.
INVERNESS A resident at 11:40 p.m. Thursday told deputies she had seen a light, possibly from a person walking between a carport and her house. She said she had kept the lights off and could hear the person walking around on the path outside.
DILLON BEACH A woman on Cypress Avenue reported at 3:54 p.m. Wednesday that a thief had stolen a cellphone and digital camera from an unlocked car on March 11.
WOODACRE A man on Madrone Ave reported at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday that he had received eight harassing hang-up calls that morning. He had called the phone company, which told him to contact the police.
POINT REYES STATION A 46-year-old woman on Overlook Road at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday reported becoming dizzy and falling in the shower. Medics responded.
INVERNESS PARK A man on Sherwood Avenue reported at 8:24 a.m. Wednesday that a vehicle with people sleeping was in his driveway. He was having an ongoing problem with this couple, he said. The vehicle was gone when deputies arrived and the man was advised to string a locked chain across his driveway.
LAGUNITAS Deputies served a Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident with a court-issued restraining order at 8:08 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies determined that the subject was on probation, searched him, but found no contraband.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A woman reported at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday that a deer had been struck on Bear Valley Road. The deer was probably dead, she said. The Humane Society looked for the deer, but could not find it.
FOREST KNOLLS A man reported at 11:39 p.m. Tuesday that there was loud rap music blasting from a neighbors windows. He said he had already yelled for quiet and had gotten no response. Deputies had already been out there, he said, and now he was going to physically assault his neighbors. A deputy was unable to locate the disturbance.
SAN GERONIMO A woman at the middle school reported at 9:49 a.m. Tuesday that lockers had been vandalized over the weekend. She had already spoken to two students who had urinated on a students locker, she said, and the two had been counseled.
BOLINAS A man on Mesa Road reported at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday that a woman visiting her husband had broken the glass on his front door. A deputy took a vandalism report.
INVERNESS A 74-year-old man on Cameron Street reported at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday that he was experiencing aching pains in both arms. He said hed had a heart bypass in 1991, but wasnt having chest pains and didnt think it was heart-related. Medics responded.
POINT REYES STATION A woman on Manana Way reported at 2:34 p.m. Tuesday that her tires had been slashed for the sixth time. She had filed a report each time they were slashed, she said.
DILLON BEACH A woman at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday reported a cellphone had been stolen at a campground on Friday or Saturday.
WOODACRE A resident at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday told deputies that her missing, 20-year-old son had been located in Corte Madera and she expected him home at 10 p.m. Earlier he had smashed a dining room chair and shouted that he wanted to kill everyone, she said. Her son is not taking his medication, she said, and asked deputies to put him in a crisis care unit.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 8:53 a.m. March 14 asked deputies for advice after receiving harassing phone calls on her cellphone.
INVERNESS PARK A man reported at 7:15 a.m. March 14 that he saw someone sleeping under blankets inside a Ford van on Drake Summit Road. A deputy told the sleeping subject that it was illegal to spend the night in a vehicle except in a campground and told him to move along.
POINT REYES STATION A woman reported at 4:06 p.m. March 14 that a man in his 30s was holding a sign that said "Sonoma" and was trying to hitchhike out of town. She said he had seen the man knocking on doors and going through trash bins. The man was holding a chainsaw, she said, but it didnt look like it was working. Deputies notified the Highway Patrol.
POINT REYES STATION A resident reported at 8:16 p.m. March 13 that someone with a backpack was lying in the middle of Highway 1. The person was breathing, but not responsive, and the caller was concerned that the person would be hit by a car.
BOLINAS A man reported at 8:40 p.m. March 13 that a crazy lady was walking up Elm Street and shining a flashlight and waiving a stick at passing cars. The man said he was concerned about the womans mental stability. A deputy could not locate the woman.
BOLINAS An anonymous man reported at 11:17 p.m. March 13 that there was loud music and singing at his neighbors house. Deputies arrived and told the revelers to wrap it up and go home.
March 17, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
POINT REYES STATION A man at 8:16 p.m. Sunday reported someone was passed out in the middle of Highway 1. He said the person might be drunk. A deputy found a man who was "breathing but not responsive" and called a detoxification center to see if it would take him.
BOLINAS A man at 8:40 p.m. Sunday told deputies there was a "crazy woman in her 70s walking up and down Elm Street." He said she "shines a flashlight and waves a stick at cars passing her." The man "fears" she may have "mental problems," a deputy reported. By the time a deputy got to Elm Street, the woman was gone.
BOLINAS An Olema-Bolinas Road resident at 11:17 p.m. Sunday complained about a "very loud party and people singing" not far from the school. A deputy contacted the partygoers, the sheriffs log noted, and asked them to "rap it up."
POINT REYES STATION An Overlook Road resident at 7:51 p.m. Saturday reported hearing four or five gunshots. She said she could not tell where they came from and "could have been miles away." A deputy found no one shooting. However, at 8:57 p.m., an Inverness Park resident told deputies she could "hear someone shooting a gun." One shot she said, may have come from a passing vehicle. Again a deputy found no one shooting. Around 1 a.m., a resident of Mesa Road in Point Reyes Station reported hearing a "loud gunshot" near her house. She added that when a vehicle drove by, two shots were heard. The resident said it sounded like an older vehicle driving slowly with its engine running "rough." Again a deputy could not find anyone shooting.
BOLINAS A woman at 12:33 a.m. Sunday notified deputies that her neighbor had thrown a rock at her an hour earlier while she was getting out of her car to go to a party. The woman said the rock didnt hit her and that she and the second woman do "not have a history of problems" with each other.
LAGUNITAS An Arroyo Road resident at 2:48 a.m. reported a fire on his property. He said it "appears controlled" and might be some "vagrants" campfire. Deputies determined the "fire was embers from a previous party."
FOREST KNOLLS A woman at 1:41 p.m. Saturday complained that an older Ford truck had been parked for a week on Sanchez Road. She said the truck is a "traffic hazard because the road is narrow."
OLEMA Deputies at 3:09 p.m. Saturday received a report that a man was unconscious on Bear Valley Trail a quarter mile from the trailhead. Deputies later reported the man was a "sick hiker."
MARSHALL A Highway 1 resident at 3:10 p.m. Saturday told deputies he had been a victim of credit card fraud for the past several months.
WOODACRE A Central Avenue resident at 3:49 p.m. Saturday reported that someone rummaged through her vehicle and stole 35 to 40 CDs.
INVERNESS A resident at 8:07 p.m. Friday asked deputies to conduct extra patrols on Inverness Way because some people in the neighborhood keep having "excessive parties" and may be using drugs. She has been making similar complaints about two neighbors on a regular basis for weeks.
BOLINAS A man at 9:11 p.m. Friday reported a Ford Taurus had run off Olema-Bolinas Road. He said no one was around the car.
INVERNESS A Camino del Mar resident at 9:19 p.m. Friday reported numerous cars in the parking area for Shell Beach. She said she had heard one boy say, "There are a sh-tload of people down there, and were going." Although the beach is within Tomales Bay State Park, no state or federal rangers were available to respond.
STINSON BEACH A member of the US Park Police at 3:35 p.m. Friday radioed for a backup, saying park police had received "a report of a large group of males drinking at Red Rock" nude beach. An Open Space District ranger who responded reported finding "one person" who was "intoxicated ... walking up the trail" from the beach to the parking lot.
STINSON BEACH Park police at 5:59 p.m. Friday asked for a "Code 3 [use lights and siren en route] backup." A deputy helped park police deal with an "uncooperative" person on Highway 1.
INVERNESS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:40 p.m. last Thursday reported a man had threatened her while she was in a Fairfax business. A deputy told her how to get a court to issue an order restraining the man.
BOLINAS A deputy on Wharf Road at 1:30 a.m. Friday encountered a man with a cut above his right eye. The man refused to identify himself, refused medical care, and said he had fallen down. The deputy noted the man had been drinking but was not drunk.
STINSON BEACH A man on Panoramic Highway at 12:57 p.m. last Thursday said that while doing construction work for a neighbor, he had found a homeless man asleep in the neighbors shed. He said that several months ago the neighbors had problems with the man and told him not to return.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A resident at 4:34 p.m. last Thursday reported that various items have disappeared from her home during the past year. She said she suspects her housekeeper or a friend of the housekeeper, who comes over for visits, may have taken the items.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A woman at 10:06 a.m. last Wednesday reported being the victim of "identification theft and mail fraud." A deputy gave her advice.
SAN GERONIMO A woman at 1:11 p.m. last Wednesday asked deputies to check on the welfare of a man who was walking around his house carrying a "broom handle" and saying he "heard spirits."
FOREST KNOLLS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:55 p.m. said she was continuing to have problems with a "very unfriendly" family in the neighborhood. A year ago, she said, a man from the family cut down a tree on her property. Today, she said, she had asked him to turn his music down, and he started yelling at her.
SAN GERONIMO A resident at 9:41 a.m. March 8 told deputies that she and her boyfriend with verbal permission from her landlord had put their belongings in a container on his property. She said the landlord has now put a lock on the container and wont let them get their belongings. She said her boyfriend was en route to try to retrieve the items. A deputy said the boyfriend should "hold off" until the officer had called the landlord.
POINT REYES STATION An officer at 2:49 p.m. March 8 tried to pull a motorist in a red Camaro over for a "failure-to-yield" traffic violation. The motorist, however, sped east on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. A deputy in pursuit first reported the Camaro was traveling "about 65" mph and then reported it had accelerated to "about 80" mph. The Camaro, he added, was "smoking." A short while later a deputy radioed from Jewell that he was holding one person in the car at gunpoint and another person, who was out of the car and on his knees, at gunpoint. Deputies jailed a Bolinas resident in his 30s on charges of reckless driving and evading arrest.
STINSON BEACH The Humane Society at 7:28 a.m. March 7 asked deputies to respond to a deer, which had been struck by traffic on Calle del Mar. A deputy radioed that there was "no merit" to the report. "The deer in question was actually in Olema." He also said he couldnt find it.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 7:44 a.m. March 7 reported her wallet had been missing for five days. Her Social Security number and her checks were in the wallet, she said and asked if anyone had turned it in. A deputy told her no one had, and he advised her to cancel her checks.
BOLINAS A man at 12:32 p.m. March 7 notified deputies that his son had been assaulted two nights earlier. A deputy gave him advice.
NICASIO A Camino Margarita resident at 4:52 p.m. March 7 reported hearing seven or eight gunshots. When a deputy arrived, all was quiet.
March 10, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
MARSHALL A Highway 1 merchant at 7:36 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a man had fallen out of a boat. People had pulled him out of the water, she said, and were trying to warm him up in a trailer at the boatworks. The man was "unable to stand originally," she added, and he was disoriented and "not making sense."
POINT REYES STATION A deputy on Highway 1 at 8:46 p.m. Sunday stopped a vehicle and found a pipe for smoking methamphetamine. When the driver refused to identify himself, he was arrested and taken to jail.
NATIONAL SEASHORE Deputies at 9:47 p.m. Sunday received a report that an 18-month-old child was "purple" after a fall and was only "somewhat responding" to other people. The caller said the child "fell from a standing [position and] possibly fainted." Another caller said the toddler had "lost consciousness, vomited some white fluid, and was having difficulty breathing." Medics responded.
POINT REYES STATION The Highway Patrol at 9:13 p.m. Saturday told deputies it had received a report of someone "with a blue ski mask jumping in and out of bushes" near the Green Bridge. The CHP said the person reportedly was "making strange gestures at vehicles as the vehicles pass." San Rafael Police then notified deputies it had received a report that the person was male, and "hes passed out." Deputies could not find him.
LAGUNITAS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 10:59 p.m. Saturday complained to deputies that a "dark-colored dog" had chased her from her home to her car. She said she believed the dog belongs to some transients living in a blue van with a tarpaulin over it, adding that she is "afraid to go home." When a deputy checked, she was not home, and there was nobody in the van.
INVERNESS PARK Deputies at 11:11 p.m. Saturday received a report that a large tree had fallen onto Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, blocking it. He said a chain saw would be needed to remove the tree which had a trunk two feet in diameter. He said a pickup truck had already crashed into the tree, and the driver was out of the truck and putting out flares to warn other motorists.
POINT REYES STATION An older woman at 12:41 a.m. Sunday told deputies she could hear "someone breaking into her house," an officer noted. She then said she could see the red taillight of a car leaving her driveway. She said, "It sounded like someone trying to open a window."
POINT REYES STATION A man at 1:39 a.m. Sunday went to the sheriffs substation to report having an argument with his wife. He said the fight was only verbal.
STINSON BEACH A Highway 1 resident at 2:14 a.m. Sunday notified deputies that 30 youths had a bonfire on the beach and were drinking. In addition, he said, two vehicles were driving on the beach. One was a four-wheel-drive vehicle with a red spotlight. And the other was a small, red car. He said youths were moving things around on his property to get access to the beach. He added they were not local residents. A deputy said he would investigate.
LAGUNITAS The Highway Patrol at 7:34 a.m. Saturday responded to a traffic accident that blocked one lane of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
WOODACRE A Railroad Avenue resident at 9:15 a.m. Saturday reported various items had been stolen from her vehicle a week earlier but she "didnt think to report it at the time." She said the "deductible" of her insurance company was greater than the loss.
BOLINAS A taxi driver at 10:43 a.m. Saturday told deputies he had driven three youths from Mill Valley to Wharf Road, but when they got out of the cab, they ran off owing him $60. The cabbie said the youths were all about 15 and had backpacks. One of them had a skateboard, he added.
POINT REYES STATION A woman on Highway 1 notified deputies at 12:44 p.m. Saturday that an 83-year-old woman had fallen at a corner. She said the older woman was "sitting up now with the help of others" but that she "had a hard time getting up." The woman added that the victim apparently had not hit her head but was complaining of pain in her shoulder. Medics responded.
WOODACRE A woman at 4:05 p.m. Saturday reported her son had "gotten violent" and had "put his hand through the ceiling." She said he has mental problems and refuses to take his medication.
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at 5:17 p.m. Saturday reported she had been locked out of her house by her 21-year-old daughter, who was inside. She said she was calling from a neighbors house and noted there is "ammo in the house that needs to be picked up."
DILLON BEACH Deputies at 5:19 p.m. Saturday received a report that a pickup truck had crashed into a portable toilet, injuring the knee of a 10-year-old girl inside. Deputies determined the girl had been driving the truck, had banged her knee while entering the portable toilet, and that it was all a "prank."
LAGUNITAS A member of the county Environmental Health Services staff at 7:43 a.m. Friday asked a deputy to stand by while he conducted an inspection at a Sir Francis Drake Boulevard home.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 9:17 a.m. Friday reported his wife had stopped taking her medication, had gone into his office, stolen some of his business papers, and was refusing to tell him what she did with them.
POINT REYES STATION Medics transported a 43-year-old man with chest pains to Kaiser Hospital. He had already been checked out by a doctor, deputies learned.
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road said that a second man, 50, has been threatening him and was now outside. Deputies took a violation-of-probation report.
BOLINAS A resident at 9:13 a.m. last Thursday told deputies her boyfriend believes "the neighbors are out to get him." Deputies determined the boyfriend was delusional but not high on recreational drugs; however, he was taking medication following recent surgery.
STINSON BEACH Medics responded when an 83-year-old man developed an irregular heartbeat and had trouble breathing.
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at 4:05 p.m. last Thursday complained that five men, who arrived in a white pickup truck, were drinking and smoking marijuana in the town park. The men were gone when a deputy arrived.
MARSHALL A 75-year-old woman told deputies that as a result of new medication, she had chest pains and an irregular heartbeat. Medics responded.
INVERNESS A resident at 10 p.m. last Wednesday complained about loud noise coming from the home of two young men on Inverness Way. The woman has repeatedly complained about them and a deputy gave her advice.
INVERNESS A Camino del Mar resident at 9:23 p.m. last Wednesday complained about hearing a loud car stereo or boombox in the parking area for Shell Beach. The parking area was empty when a deputy arrived.
BOLINAS A resident at 10:20 p.m. last Wednesday reported a car on Wharf Road had hit a cat and injured it. He said the cat was now off the road in bushes, where it could be seen moving around.
TOMALES A deputy at 8:30 a.m. last Wednesday was summoned to John St. where he cited a boy to Juvenile Probation for bringing a knife to school.
NICASIO The Highway Patrol responded at 3:25 p.m. last Wednesday when a Toyota 4-Runner crashed on Nicasio Valley Road, knocking down a fence. No one was injured.
STINSON BEACH A man on Highway 1 at 8:11 p.m. Feb. 1 reported his car had been burglarized.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 1:44 p.m. said people are sleeping overnight downtown in a white Buick. Deputies had repeatedly tagged the car to be towed if not removed within 72 hours, and each time the car was moved before the time limit.
DOGTOWN A woman at 2:10 p.m. March 1 reported "five boys had been engaging in sexual activities. Sexual-assault reports have been made, and [the boys] caseworkers notified."
POINT REYES STATION A man at 7:57 p.m. Feb. 28 reported a dead deer was lying in the middle of the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road 1.5 miles east of Highway 1. The Highway Patrol handled the matter.
March 3, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
PLATFORM BRIDGE A man at 8:08 p.m. Sunday told deputies his girlfriend had been beaten up by some people and left at Laurel Canyon Road, where she was stranded. Deputies found a woman in her 20s, who had obviously been punched in the face with a fist. However, she said she wanted her boyfriend called and did not want to deal with law enforcement. The woman refused to give deputies any details about what had happened to her, and a deputy drove her to San Rafael.
WHITES HILL The Highway Patrol at 8:45 p.m. Sunday asked deputies to remove a large pipe lying on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
BOLINAS A bartender at 10:33 p.m. reported a woman outside had cuts to her foot and face and that an artery might be bleeding. Medics summoned deputies after finding the woman, with an inch-long cut in a foot, and a man with a cut forehead. Deputies were told that the people who injured the two had left town in a silver Subaru. Deputies said the peoples identify is known. Approximately two hours later, the man asked officers if the people who injured him will have to pay his medical bills. A deputy gave him advice.
DILLON BEACH A resident at 7:09 p.m. Saturday reported two vehicles had collided at North Street and Cliff Road. One vehicle was now in someones yard while a second vehicle was in the street, he said. The man said the vehicles were not within walking distance but could be seen from his house. The man, who noted that he was passing along information from his wife, said five occupants had gotten out of the vehicles and that one of them was bleeding from the head.
MUIR BEACH Deputies at 7:46 p.m. Saturday received a 911-hangup call from a Highway 1 residence. When a dispatcher called back, she spoke with an older woman "who sounded hesitant on the phone," making the dispatcher "uncomfortable about the conversation." When a deputy checked, he found an older woman had accidentally dialed 911 while trying to check her voice mail.
WOODACRE A Maple Road resident at 10:52 a.m. Saturday complained to deputies about an "ongoing problem" with his neighbors setting off fireworks. At 8:19 p.m., the resident called deputies again to report more problems with neighbors setting off fireworks. A deputy spoke to a neighboring family, and the parents said the fireworks were at another neighbors home. The deputy went to that home, but found no one there.
RED HILL Firefighters at 2:54 a.m. Sunday reported a sportscar had overturned on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. Deputies found the car upside down, its radio on, its headlights off, and nobody around it.
WOODACRE A Railroad Avenue resident at 10:32 a.m. Sunday notified deputies of vandalism.
SAN GERONIMO Medics responded at 10:55 a.m. Sunday when a 37-year-old man developed a nose bleed that would not stop. Deputies were told the man had been "dizzy all day yesterday" and was now "dizzy again." Officers also received a report that the man has sinus problems.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 11:09 a.m. Sunday reported her car's rear window had been smashed while it was parked at a trailhead in the Point Reyes National Seashore. She said her purse and a cell phone had been stolen.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 2:23 p.m. Sunday told deputies her 16-year-old sons wallet had been stolen between Bolinas and Stinson Beach. She said it contained cash and identification papers.
BOLINAS A Horseshoe Hill Road resident at 9:16 a.m. Saturday told deputies his bee hive had been stolen. He said that last week he first noticed the hive was missing and thinks his landlord may have taken it. A deputy gave him advice.
DOGTOWN Two towtrucks were summoned at 12:51 p.m. Saturday when a Toyota ran off Highway 1. No one was injured, and a deputy reported the car was registered to a couple in Irvine, Orange County.
NICASIO A La Cañada resident at 12:51 p.m. Saturday complained about shooting coming from a neighboring home on two acres. His landlord reported hearing 16 or 17 gunshots and said he had never heard shooting in the area before.
NICASIO A deputy at 1:48 p.m. Saturday reported he was going to have to "hike a ways uphill to contact a homeless subject."
POINT REYES STATION A male at 4:30 p.m. Saturday reported having a verbal confrontation with a referee during a basketball game.
INVERNESS An Inverness Way resident at 2:38 p.m. told deputies she had received a call from a woman whose Honda had been "disabled" by a "blown tire." A deputy could not find the Honda.
FOREST KNOLLS A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard stopped a motorcycle for a traffic violation and then arrested the rider on an outstanding warrant. He subsequently reported he was "transporting an uncooperative male" to jail, where the motorcyclist was booked.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A man at 12:07 a.m. Saturday reported that another man, 72, had pain in his stomach and had experienced a "sharp pain half an hour ago." Medics responded.
DILLON BEACH Firefighters at 12:35 a.m. Saturday reported an illegal bonfire at Beach Avenue and Cliff Road.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 8:37 a.m. Friday reported that a 64-year-old man was having difficulty breathing. She said he has emphysema and a history of asthma. She added that the man had a fever and was pale. Medics responded.
WOODACRE A resident at 10:16 a.m. Friday told deputies that a second man continually parks junked cars in front of his house, blocking garbagemens access to his garbage cans. He said deputies ticket the cars, which are then towed away, and the second man then parks another junker "in the same spot."
CHILENO VALLEY Novato Police at 12:25 p.m. Friday asked deputies to check on the welfare of a man in his 20s. Police said the mans "pickup was involved in a chase with another vehicle yesterday." Police said a second man subsequently warned the pickup driver that the second man "would be returning with 20 males to beat or kill him."
STINSON BEACH A resident at 7:23 p.m. last Thursday reported hearing "tires screeching and what sounded like a vehicle stuck in the mud." The resident said a vehicle "might be in [Bolinas] Lagoon." The resident also reported seeing the headlights of people stopping at the apparent mishap.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 12:46 a.m. Friday received a report of a horse wandering on A Street. Someone at a bar then reported a pony was on the main street. The pony was put in a pen at a nearby dairy ranch.
TOMALES High school staff at 12:12 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that a 15-year-old boy had broken his hand when he punched a wall. Medics responded.
SAN GERONIMO Deputies at 3:48 p.m. last Wednesday received a report that an 86-year-old woman was nauseous, had an irregular heartbeat, and was having trouble breathing. Medics responded.
WOODACRE A man at 5:09 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies a burglar had stolen $5,000 worth of tools from a locked toolbox in a truck. Deputies took a grand-theft report.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 5:29 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that another woman, 79, had fallen in the shower and was now only semi-alert. She said the other woman had already had two other falls in February.
INVERNESS An Inverness Way resident at 8:51 p.m. last Wednesday for the fourth time in recent weeks complained about people partying in a backyard of a nearby home. She said, "They get stoned and very loud." At present, she said, there were eight people partying in the yard. A deputy went to the home and reported it "quiet on arrival." He went to the door, he added, and "got no answer at the residence." A deputy who went to the house following an earlier complaint reported finding no evidence of drug use.
BOLINAS A woman at 7:14 p.m. Feb. 22 told deputies she was concerned about a street-person in his 20s who hangs out on Wharf Road. She reported overhearing him say "he needs medication after having lice for weeks." She asked that no law-enforcement action be taken against him.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 8:16 p.m. Feb. 22 received a report of a cow on Highway 1 south of town. A deputy contacted a rancher.
STINSON BEACH Firefighters at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 22 responded to a stove fire on Lincoln Avenue.
SAN GERONIMO A resident at 9:50 p.m. Feb. 22 told deputies she had seen someones shadow in her front yard.
STINSON BEACH San Francisco Police at 4:19 a.m. Feb. 22 asked deputies to be on the lookout for a 22-year-old man. Police said the suicidal man might be headed for Stinson Beach "to drive his vehicle into the ocean." Deputies also notified US Park Police.
NICASIO Deputies at 7:21 p.m. Feb. 21 received a 911-hangup call from a Lucas Valley Road residence. When a dispatcher called back, a man answered and said there was a "family argument." The dispatcher noted she could hear a female voice in the background telling him to hang up, which he did. When the dispatcher called a second time, another person answered the phone and said an elderly wife was upset with her elderly husband for refusing to bathe.
POINT REYES STATION A woman on Highway 1 told deputies at 10:34 p.m. Feb. 21 that she was stranded. She said shed had a fight with her boyfriend, and he had kicked her out of his car. A deputy transported her to Tomales. At 12:30 p.m. a hotelier in Tomales reported that the woman had subsequently trespassed on an outdoor balcony and had gotten into an upstairs hallway. She was now outside, the hotelier said.
LAGUNITAS A deputy driving on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 3:46 a.m. Feb. 22 reported colliding with a deer. The officer reported there was only "minor damage to the left-lower fender." There was no report on the deer.
BOLINAS A resident at 4:10 a.m. Feb. 22 told deputies that for the fifth time, a neighbor had tried to get into her home through a living-room window. She said shed talked with the District Attorneys Office in the past about this. The resident described the would-be intruder as aged 35 to 40 and wearing a "scruffy beard."
