March 28, 2002 Sheriff's Calls

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy at 11:58 p.m. Saturday arrested a man at Mesa Road and Highway 1 on charges of drunk driving.

POINT REYES STATION – Sometime Saturday night a vandal in a four-wheel-drive vehicle tried to drive onto the grassy area behind the Old Cheda Building but could not get up a steep slope, the Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office both reported.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies received two reports of vandalism downtown Sunday night. Vandals bent flat a steel-tube railing that created a barrier between vehicles and pedestrians at A and Fourth streets. Also bent over was a railing that kept pedestrians from falling off a raised sidewalk along Highway 1 at Third Street.

INVERNESS PARK – A man at 11:30 a.m. Sunday reported that a burglar had entered his vacation house but had taken nothing.

BOLINAS – A man at 9:08 p.m. Monday notified deputies that a drunken couple were shouting at each other around Brighton and Terrace avenues. A deputy arrested the woman on charges of public drunkenness.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 4:30 p.m. last Thursday reported receiving email depicting naked children.

MARSHALL – An educational center employee at 7:45 a.m. March 19 reported that three girls had vandalized a Coke machine by hitting it with a large rock.

TOMALES – A merchant at 2 p.m. Friday said he had lost $10,000 to $20,000 of his business’ revenue – possibly to a former employee, who had been fired. A deputy gave him advice.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 11:30 a.m. Saturday told deputies that a caller she didn’t recognized had threatened to burn her house down.

BOLINAS – A man at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday complained about someone practicing a bass guitar in the Cedar Road area. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 7:03 p.m. Friday told deputies she was moving from one apartment to another in a Montezuma Avenue building when she caught a second woman stealing items from in front of one of the apartments. The second woman admitted taking other items earlier and promised to return them, but hadn’t done so, the resident said. She described the second woman as driving a blue BMW. Deputies took a petty-theft report.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 7:19 p.m. Friday reported encountering three drunks near his car in the beach parking lot. One of them threatened him with a knife, he said.

DOGTOWN – A deputy and Highway Patrol officer responded at 10:55 p.m. Friday after a motorist reported his pickup truck had been southbound on Highway 1 when it was clipped by an oncoming, full-size truck in the wrong lane.

FOUR CORNERS – A man at 7:34 a.m. Friday notified deputies that a woman in a business suit was at the side of the road "screaming and running around." There was no vehicle parked in the area, he said. The woman was gone when a deputy arrived on the scene.

WOODACRE – A merchant at 10:19 a.m. Friday reported that a 16 year old had threatened violence against his mother. Feeling she was in danger, the woman had left home and gone to the business.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Vista Avenue resident at 12:54 p.m. Friday reported his passport was missing.

TOMALES – Staff at the high school notified deputies at 1:22 p.m. Friday that two students had been caught using marijuana. A deputy cited them.

OLEMA – A man at 2:28 p.m. Friday notified deputies he had found binoculars on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

INVERNESS PARK – At 2:57 p.m. Friday a delivery truck got stuck in a ditch at Balboa Avenue, blocking the eastbound lane of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Officers from the Sheriff’s Department and Highway Patrol responded, and the roadway was cleared.

SAN GERONIMO – A Creamery Road resident at 7:33 p.m. last Thursday complained that a Realtor had vandalized his fence by placing a "For Sale" sign on it. The resident said he is not selling his home yet but only looking for a Realtor. A deputy determined that no vandalism had occurred and that the Realtor who put up the sign had merely placed it in front of the wrong residence.

LAGUNITAS – A caller at 8:37 p.m. last Thursday reported a large paper bag had been placed in the center of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Its location indicated it had been put there deliberately, the caller said. A deputy determined that the bag contained macaroni salad.

POINT REYES STATION – The Highway Patrol last Thursday reported that a vehicle’s muffler was in the roadway near the Green Bridge. It was gone when a deputy arrived on the scene.

OLEMA – A man at 10 a.m. last Thursday complained he was being evicted even though he is recuperating from a job-related injury. The man added that he fears he might further injure himself by moving. A deputy determined it was a dispute for civil court and gave the man advice. At 10:48 a.m., the manager told deputies the man was now claiming he was injured on the premises. A deputy gave the manager advice.

NICASIO – At 3:22 p.m. last Thursday a Lucas Valley Road resident complained that his brother was harassing him. He told deputies he wanted his brother "gone." The brother then got on the phone and said the man was "not quite normal" and that everything was fine. The man called back awhile later and reported his brother had left with their mother.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD – County firefighters at 4:13 p.m. last Thursday reported a traffic accident, possibly involving two vehicles, at the top of Red Hill. One vehicle had spun out, but no one was injured, firefighters added.

STINSON BEACH – Firefighters at 4:53 p.m. last Thursday reported a non-injury traffic accident on Highway 1 near Steep Ravine. Deputies arranged for a vehicle to be towed.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy on Highway 1 at 6:22 p.m. last Thursday cited a man on charges of driving with a suspended license.

DOGTOWN – A man at 7:15 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies he had been eating dinner at his boss’ house when they got into a quarrel and his boss struck him in the jaw. The man added that on Monday the "suspect" threatened to shoot him and that he had been assaulted by a co-worker in his 30s.

MUIR BEACH – Mill Valley Police at 10:36 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a 15-year-old girl in town was being harassed by a heavyset, short male. Police said the girl does not know how the male got her name and phone number.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A man at 10:53 p.m. last Wednesday complained about noise from a Russian family playing loud music. He said other campers had been threatened by the Russians. At 12:14 a.m. last Thursday, a woman complained of being threatened by the Russian family. A deputy and state park ranger responded.

DOGTOWN – Deputies at 8:57 p.m. March 19 cited a 12 year old to the Juvenile Probation Department on battery charges after a school reported the boy had punched a staff member.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident, who sounded disoriented, called deputies at 9:05 p.m., saying his nurse had changed his medication that day and may not have known what she was doing.

INVERNESS – A schoolbus driver at 3:27 p.m. March 19 told deputies her westbound bus had been stopped on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard when a woman in an orange Ford Mustang "blasted past the bus when it had its flashing-red lights on." Officers found the Mustang and stopped it.

SAN GERONIMO – A man at 3:38 p.m. March 19 reported that someone had dumped a load of trash next to the recycling bins along Lagunitas School Road. The man said he had determined whose trash it was by going through it.

WOODACRE – A woman at 4:52 p.m. last Tuesday told deputies that a workman, who is supposed to be servicing her hot tub, had shown up only once and when he did, he acted drunk. The man had notified her he wanted to come back that day, but his speech was slurred, the woman noted. She advised him not to come over, but he was "very persistent," she said, and that made her uncomfortable.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. March 21, 2002 Sheriff's Calls

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 8:42 a.m. Sunday received a complaint of aggressive dogs on the levee road. When an officer located the dogs’ owner, the owner reported forgetting to close a gate, which allowed the dogs to get out of their yard.

BOLINAS – A deputy at 10:10 a.m. Sunday accompanied a county Planning Division investigator and an Environmental Health Services inspector while they determined if a couple at Elm and Juniper roads had complied with a order to clean up their property. Not only was the property not cleaned up, a deputy said, the mess was worse. In addition, the couple’s goats had been getting free and grazing in neighbors’ gardens, the officer said.

POINT REYES STATION –A woman at 10:14 a.m. Sunday reported losing her red wallet downtown Saturday.

BOLINAS – A resident at 8:18 p.m. Saturday complained about loud drunks at a church on Brighton Avenue. The drunks were gone when a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH – A deputy at 11:11 p.m. Saturday dispersed a small group of juveniles on the beach at Calle del Occidente.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road merchant at 1:21 a.m. Sunday complained that a woman in her early 20s was refusing to leave the business and was being disruptive. The merchant subsequently called deputies back to say the woman had now left. A deputy found the woman and took her to a detoxification center.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 1:27 a.m. Sunday reported a vandal had slashed her left front tire about an hour earlier. It was the fourth time in the past month that her tires have been vandalized.

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 6:45 a.m. Sunday complained she has an ongoing problem with a neighbor’s parking in her driveway. A deputy gave her advice.

TOMALES – The commander of the West Marin Sheriff’s substation at 9:16 a.m. Sunday reported that a Ford Mustang had run off the Tomales-Petaluma Road and hit a fence. The driver agreed to pay the property owner for damage to the fence, the lieutenant said, and a friend agreed to tow her vehicle back onto the road.

BOLINAS – A motorist at 1:32 p.m. Saturday called deputies, saying her vehicle had been tagged for towing and that she had received a parking ticket. She asked what to do about the ticket, and an officer gave her advice.

INVERNESS PARK – A deputy at 5:38 p.m. Saturday went to Drake’s View Drive to help the Humane Society look for a sick or injured fox. They couldn’t find it.

MUIR WOODS – US Park Police at 8:43 p.m. Friday notified the Highway Patrol that a woman named Heidi used a cell phone to call for help, saying she was stranded in Muir Woods. When two rangers could not find her, two deputies joined the search.

OLEMA – A resident at 10:32 p.m. Friday notified deputies that two people at her front door were locked out of their bed-and-breakfast lodgings at High way 1 and Bear Valley Road. A deputy gave the two assistance, and "they got in," he reported.

BOLINAS – A resident at 10:35 p.m. complained about a very loud band somewhere on the Mesa. Deputies contacted a man, who agreed to keep the volume down.

PLATFORM BRIDGE – A man at 11:47 p.m. Friday reported a female motorist just east of the bridge was pulled off the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road with a flat tire. She asked the man to call her husband, but there was no answer, he said. When a deputy looked for the woman, he could not find her.

NICASIO – Medics at 12:59 a.m. Saturday transported an infant with a rapid heart beat to a hospital by ambulance.

INVERNESS – A man on Camino del Mar at 10:39 a.m. Saturday said two people in a yellow-and-white kayak were creating a minor verbal disturbance. He said it appeared that a kayaker in his 60s was quarreling with his daughter. However, the quarrel subsequently quieted down, he noted.

BOLINAS – A deputy at 11:06 a.m. Friday found an illegal campsite near Brighton Avenue and Wharf Road. The campsite was unoccupied, the officer reported, but he said deputies on the nightshift should check the campsite after dark.

WOODACRE – A vehicle ran off the road at Railroad Avenue and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 12:04 a.m. Friday. Deputies notified medics and assisted the Highway Patrol.

LAGUNITAS – Ross Police at 7:15 a.m. last Thursday reported there was a non-injury traffic accident in Lagunitas and that a tow truck was needed.

WOODACRE – A deputy at 8:16 a.m. last Thursday arrested a 46-year-old woman on warrants involving a traffic-violation case and probation revocation.

INVERNESS – A 70-year-old man on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard reported chest pains at 1:17 p.m. last Thursday. A helicopter was summoned but then called off.

DOGTOWN – A man knocked himself out by hitting his head on a branch at 3:42 p.m. last Thursday. He regained consciousness but was transported by helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

POINT REYES STATION – A Mesa Road resident at 5:10 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies she had received an unexpected letter from Iraq. A deputy checked the mail, which turned out to be a form letter containing no anthrax.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 7:27 a.m. last Wednesday complained that a neighbor down the street had taken her dog and was refusing to give it back. She later called deputies again to say the neighbor had returned the dog before deputies could intervene. An officer gave her advice about dog ownership.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 7:14 a.m. last Wednesday complained that a man arrested two weeks ago keeps calling her from jail, saying "it’s all her fault," a deputy reported. The officer gave her advice.

INVERNESS PARK – A deputy at 11:06 a.m. last Wednesday gave a Sir Francis Drake resident advice about her aggressive dogs.

FALLON – A rancher last Wednesday reported that someone had parked a blue Ford Ranger in the garage of a vacant house the rancher owns along Valley Ford-Franklin School Road. He said the person had just left and was heading toward Dillon Beach.

INVERNESS PARK – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 4:03 p.m. last Wednesday complained she is receiving one or two harassing phone calls per night. She said no one is on the line when she answers the phone.

BOLINAS – A resident at 4:35 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that his horse had broken a leg and that he wanted a deputy to "put it down." The commander of the West Marin Sheriff’s Substation told his officers he did not want them shooting a horse and advised the resident to contact a veterinarian.

FALLON – A man from a film crew at 5:19 p.m. last Wednesday said the crew was scheduled to shoot a commercial at Marsh and Middle roads early the next morning. He said he had been told by the county Department of Public Works he would have a permit in hand by Wednesday. However, he never received the permit, and the DPW office was now closed, the man added. Deputies confirmed he had a receipt from paying for the permit.

BOLINAS – A deputy at 6:11 p.m. last Wednesday arrested a man at Mesa Road and Overlook Drive on charges of stealing a van from his mother in Oakland.

BOLINAS – A ranger at 10:37 p.m. March 12 notified deputies that a soaking-wet man had told him that a woman had been hit by a wave that knocked some firewood into her face. The man told the ranger he had seen the woman by the town tennis courts 30 minutes earlier and that she might be injured.

NICASIO – A Lucas Valley Road resident at 12:19 a.m. last Wednesday complained about people dumping trash on his property. He also asked how to arrange to have some abandoned vehicles towed away.

LAGUNITAS – A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 9:25 a.m. March 12 arrested a resident on warrants for failing to appear in court to face charges of driving with a suspended license and drunk driving.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 11:32 p.m. March 12 received a report of possible child abuse.

WOODACRE – A Crescent Drive resident at 12:40 p.m. March 12 reported losing his cell phone in town five days earlier.

March 14, 2002 Sheriff's Calls

POINT REYES STATION – An older man at 12:45 p.m. last Thursday told a deputy he had dropped a $160 money order as he left the postoffice, and the wind blew it down the street before he could retrieve it.

TOMALES – Deputies at 12:30 p.m. Sunday arrested a Tomales-Petaluma Road resident on assault charges after her husband said she choked him and held a knife to his throat. The husband used a neighbor’s phone to call deputies.

WOODACRE – A resident at 7:04 p.m. Sunday told deputies juveniles in a truck were trying to drive off-road up the side of a hill. She said they had left but in the past they had come back throughout the evening. She said she would call officers if they returned.

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 8:26 p.m. Monday reported that a former sex offender might intend to spend the night on her street. She said the man, who she believes was recently released from jail, appeared to be preparing to sleep in his vehicle.

LAGUNITAS – A man at 8:26 p.m. Monday reported that he had taken his son to see his 54-year-old estranged wife, but when they arrived, the husband said, she became hysterical, and the two of them left. The husband said his wife appeared to be very high on drugs and was with a man who identified himself as Jesus Christ. The husband’s call was then turned over to medical personnel to determine what assistance his wife might need.

STINSON BEACH – A man on Calle del Mar at 11:02 p.m. Monday reported that a 30 year old in a dark beanie was running around the parking lot and looking in windows. After talking with the 30 year old, a deputy determined he didn’t qualify as insane.

OLEMA – A restaurant manager at 12:19 a.m. Tuesday reported there was smoke in the building. Deputies assisted firefighters, who determined there was no fire, only "light smoke" from a new heating system.

SAN GERONIMO – A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 1 a.m. Tuesday complained that a truck, which doesn’t belong to him, was parked in his driveway. A deputy traced the truck’s registration to an address in Fremont.

FALLON – A resident at 12:56 p.m. Sunday notified the Highway Patrol and Sonoma County deputies that a man with long hair appeared to be looking into houses around Marsh and Middle roads. An officer located the man, who turned out to be monitoring hawks.

WOODACRE – A resident at 10:20 p.m. Saturday complained about loud noise from a party at Park Street and Central Avenue, adding that there were numerous cars in the area. The resident said she couldn’t sleep and merely wanted the volume turned down.

SAN GERONIMO – Medics at 12:59 p.m. March 5 responded to a motorcycle crash at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Nicasio Valley Road. The motorcyclist was transported to Marin General Hospital.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 10:03 a.m. Monday notified deputies that a burglar had broken into her car parked along Highway 1 and stolen a backpack. Deputies referred the matter to US Park Police.

CHILENO VALLEY – Deputies were alerted at 12:28 p.m. Monday that someone had illegally dumped a camper shell for a pickup truck on Wilson Hill Road, causing a traffic hazard. Officers told the county Department of Public of Public Works about the "illegal dumping," and DPW removed the debris from the road.

WOODACRE – A Central Avenue resident at 8:02 p.m. Friday complained that a neighbor’s construction was damaging the resident’s property. A deputy gave the resident advice.

WOODACRE – Deputies at 9:42 p.m. Friday received a report that two juveniles had vandalized a water tank at the Improvement Club and then left in a white Volvo. A deputy found no vandalism, "just some dirt thrown on the water tower."

TOMALES – Firefighters at 11 p.m. Friday responded to a report of a "possible structure fire" at Alexander and Tomales-Petaluma roads. They found instead that the embers of a controlled burn earlier in the day had flared up.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Occidente resident at 11:35 p.m. Friday notified deputies that 75 juveniles had just gotten out of several vehicles and were headed toward the beach. She said they might be from Bolinas. A deputy contacted the youths, who agreed to leave the area.

TOMALES – Deputies and firefighters at 1 a.m. Saturday responded when two women passed out in a residence. Firefighters afterwards said the problem was entirely medical: there was no foul play, no overdose, nothing intentional, merely a matter of two women happening to pass out simultaneously. "Sometimes people pass out," explained one firefighter.

LAGUNITAS – An Arroyo Road resident at 11:40 a.m. Friday reported hearing three gunshots.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 3:11 p.m. Friday reported that someone in his 40s was on the side of Highway 1 wearing only thong underwear or a thong swimsuit. The lightly dressed man was gone when a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 4:24 p.m. Friday reported her house on Calle del Ribera had been burglarized.

WOODACRE – A Railroad Avenue resident at 7:41 p.m. last Thursday said she had discovered that several items were missing when she returned home. She said she suspects her estranged husband and that a court has issued a retraining order against him. However, the husband had not yet been served with the order, and deputies could not find him.

NATIONAL SEASHORE – A powerline came down across another line at 11:02 a.m. last Thursday on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, causing a blackout.

BOLINAS – County firefighters at 2:21 p.m. last Thursday reported there were "multiple wires down" at Terrace Avenue and Marin Way with several utility poles affected. Deputies provided traffic control while the PG&E and the county Department of Public Works cleared away a tree that had fallen across the wires.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 11:49 a.m. last Wednesday reported that a Toyota sedan had broken down on Tamal Road and was "completely blocking the road." A deputy determined there was no hazard and that there was room for a fire engine to get by.

POINT REYES STATION – Two students were summoned to the sheriff’s substation at 3:44 p.m. last Wednesday and taken into custody for allegedly possessing marijuana. At the request of the students’ principal, deputies did not take a report but instead gave them counseling and released them to their parents.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 4:44 p.m. last Wednesday said she lost her cell phone at a motel the previous Friday, and it had not been found.

March 7, 2002 Sheriff's Calls

INVERNESS – Deputies and medics at 10:15 p.m. last Wednesday on Camino del Mar assisted a 10-month-old infant, who had become dehydrated from gastro-intestinal problems.

OLEMA – A woman at 9:30 p.m. Saturday called deputies, saying she wanted to turn in a television she had received as a gift but has since learned was stolen from a business in town. She said a former employee of the business gave the TV to her and that one of her co-workers has now told her it was stolen several months ago.

NICASIO – A Lucas Valley Road resident at 9:15 a.m. last Thursday reported a thief had stolen mail from her mailbox.

WOODACRE – A man at 8 p.m. Monday asked deputies to stand by while he picked up his "stuff" from a former residence, but deputies told him he would need to get court permission first.

NICASIO – A man at 8:57 p.m. Monday told deputies he had found a loaded bullet on Lucas Valley Road. He turned it over to them to be destroyed.

LAGUNITAS – Medics responded to the west end of town at 9:22 p.m. Monday after a man passed out for unknown reasons.

NICASIO – A man at 9:51 p.m. Monday notified deputies that what appeared to be a small tanker, a camper truck, and a worker truck were parked along the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road on the west side of Nicasio Reservoir. Deputies noted the man "thought it was odd to have men working at this hour."

MARSHALL – A Highway 1 resident at 7:12 a.m. Monday reported his 87-year-old wife was having trouble breathing.

STINSON BEACH – A Buena Vista Avenue resident at 9:06 a.m. Monday complained that his ex-girlfriend was pacing back and forth in front of his house. He said he would ask a court to issue a restraining order against her. A deputy gave him advice.

BOLINAS – A man at 1:15 a.m. Saturday complained that a motorist in a green van appeared to be high on "speed" because he was driving back and forth on Wharf Road at high speeds, as well as parking in the middle of the road. At 9:45 a.m. Monday, a Rosewood Road resident complained that the same man appeared to have been trespassing on her property. He was now in the "cliff area," she said. The resident said she believes the man was trespassing because she found a milk carton on her property. Deputies noted the woman has complained about the man previously.

TOMALES – A deputy at 10:42 a.m. Monday reported he intended to cite two students on charges of possessing pot on a schoolbus. The officer picked up the marijuana at the high school, which suspended the two on Friday.

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 11:43 a.m. Monday asked deputies for extra patrols around her house because she suspects her neighbor is stalking her. The resident said she has had problems with her neighbor in the past.

NICASIO – The Highway Patrol handled a two-vehicle accident on Nicasio Valley Road at 1:57 p.m. Monday. One of the people involved reported feeling dizzy.

SAN GERONIMO – A resident at 2:40 p.m. Monday reported a jewelry box containing $20,000 worth of jewelry had been taken from her home while she was away. She said she suspects her roommate’s boyfriend.

STINSON BEACH – Medics responded to an Avenida Olema home at 12:42 a.m. Monday when a woman experienced heart problems.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Embarcadero resident at 12:59 a.m. Monday complained that four or five people had a large bonfire on the beach and that sparks were blowing toward houses. A deputy contacted the group, who were cooperative and agreed to put out the fire.

OLEMA –A man at 9:46 a.m. Sunday reported he had been bitten by a dog along Highway 1 at 6 p.m. Feb. 26.

NICASIO – A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 10:07 a.m. Sunday reported having heard gunshots for the past two days and then again this morning. The resident said she had found bullet casings near her animals’ pen.

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 10:21 a.m. Sunday complained about a contractor working on Rodeo Avenue. The man said the contractor had five workers using chainsaws with him although his county permit prohibits work on Sundays. The resident said he wanted the work stopped.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 10:42 a.m. Sunday reported a woman was bleeding in front of a store. The man, who is either named Jesús or calls himself Jesus (the dispatcher’s log was unclear on this), said he did not know why she was bleeding.

LAGUNITAS – Highway Patrol officers, firefighters, and medics at 11:41 a.m. Sunday responded when authorities were told a pickup truck had run a bicyclist down. Officers were told the white truck was pulling a camper westbound on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

WOODACRE – A resident at 11:55 a.m. Sunday reported a man in his 30s was in her home screaming and breaking furniture. She said a 15 year old was also in the house and that the man drives a large, green truck.

MOUNT TAMALPAIS – A man at 3:55 p.m. Sunday reported that his 13-year-old son, who had been hiking on the Matt Davis Trail, had not shown up in Stinson Beach when expected.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 6:03 p.m. Sunday reported someone’s pickup truck was blocking her driveway. After a deputy determined that the resident’s driveway was not blocked, he left her a message.

INVERNESS PARK – Deputies received word at 6:49 p.m. Sunday that a motorist had run off the pavement at Limantour and Bear Valley roads. The Highway Patrol arrested the motorist on charges of drunk driving and arranged for the motorist’s vehicle to be towed away.

SAN GERONIMO – A woman at 9:47 p.m. Saturday reported hearing four or five gunshots. A deputy contacted two people who said bottle rockets had been set off.

STINSON BEACH – A deputy at 11:13 p.m. Saturday dispersed a group of juveniles on the beach near Calle del Occidente.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue woman at 4:56 a.m. Sunday reported a male had been beaten up on the beach earlier in the night.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:59 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that her 18-year-old son was arguing with her. The son then got on the phone and told officers not to come over. He then hung up.

OLEMA VALLEY – A woman at 10:04 a.m. Saturday reported a black cow was loose on Highway 1 a half mile south of Olema. Deputies notified the Humane Society.

BOLINAS – County firefighters at 11:56 a.m. Saturday responded to an attended death in a Mesa Road home. Deputies reported that caregivers were handling mortuary arrangements.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Tamal Road resident at 1:06 p.m. Saturday reported an extremely angry man, 45, was on the premises between the kitchen and the parking lot. She speculated he might be under the influence of marijuana.

SAN GERONIMO – A man at 1:55 p.m. Saturday told deputies that a motorist named Jerry had tried to run over him on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

FOUR CORNERS – Deputies learned at 6:15 p.m. Saturday that vandals had taken the county’s new, solar-powered, flashing stop sign. County workers began looking for a conventional stop sign to quickly erect before a crash occurred.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Piños resident at 12:04 p.m. Feb. 26 reported a vandal had slashed her car’s tires for the second time in a week. At 10:24 a.m. Friday, she reported a vandal had now slashed her tires for a third time. Not only had a windstorm blacked out the town, she added, it was her birthday. She asked for extra patrols on her street.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 11:14 a.m. Friday told deputies she had left her keys in her car so her neighbor could drive it while she was away. However, when the neighbor went to use the car, it was gone. The vehicle later turned up at the San Geronimo Postoffice, but from there it was towed away. During the previous week, the woman said, the neighbor had gotten the vehicle back. The woman now wanted to know if she should file a stolen-vehicle report.

NICASIO – The Highway Patrol closed a lane of Nicasio Valley Road at 2:56 p.m. Friday after an object fell off one vehicle and struck a second vehicle, damaging it and injuring the neck of its driver.

BOLINAS – A man at 7:10 p.m. Friday reported a stripped Nissan had been abandoned at Dogwood and Poplar roads.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Occidente man at 11:24 p.m. Friday reported there were juveniles with several bonfires partying on the beach. Deputies cleared the beach of 50 to 60 people.

TOCALOMA – A deputy at 1:17 a.m. Saturday reported from Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Platform Bridge Road that a formerly loose "cow is back home."

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 1:59 a.m. Saturday complained about a group of people gathered at Calle del Mar and Puente Rizal. A deputy contacted four local men, who agreed to go home.

FOREST KNOLLS – A man at 9:28 p.m. last Thursday complained about noise caused by his neighbor’s using a gas-powered pressure washer. A deputy told the neighbor about the complaint.

MUIR BEACH – A Sunset Way landlord at 10:25 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that her tenant had just informed her that someone had walked across their back deck and rattled doors.

MUIR BEACH – A Highway 1 resident at 9:14 a.m. last Thursday told deputies that Bank of America had informed her someone had forged one of her checks and cashed it in Alameda.

BOLINAS – A woman at 1:47 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that a couple, who are homeless and alcoholics, were behind her office and that the other woman had threatened her.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 6:08 p.m. last Thursday reported that a man and woman, who had a gray Chevrolet van with New Mexico license plates, were panhandling to get money to buy gasoline.

SAN GERONIMO – Someone found a San Geronimo woman’s wallet and turned it over to Fairfax Police. Police at 7:15 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies they had the wallet; deputies sent the owner to the Fairfax Police Station to retrieve it.

OLEMA – A woman on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 9:56 p.m. Feb. 26 told a deputy she was dehydrated and then volunteered for temporary commitment to the county’s crisis unit. The woman told the officer she is schizophrenic and is having to adjust to her medication.

INVERNESS PARK – A deputy at 11 p.m. Feb. 26 asked the Humane Society for permission to put a deer injured in traffic out of its misery. The deputy noted the deer had "a really nasty head wound" and was "dazed [and] confused." The officer reported that when he approached the animal, it dragged its broken back end across the street and into somebody’s yard.

STINSON BEACH – A Sacramento Patio resident at 8:47 a.m. Jan. 25 reported a vandal had hammered a nail into her new house, intentionally piercing a water pipe and causing a severe leak. A deputy gave her advice.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release.
