February 26, 2004 Sheriff's Calls
STINSON BEACH A Lincoln Avenue resident at 9:14 p.m. Feb. 17 notified deputies he could hear an alarm "beeping" nextdoor and thought "it could be some type of flooding alarm for the septic system." A deputy found nothing amiss at the neighboring house, which is under construction. At 11:19 a.m. the next day, the man called back to complain the "noise is still going on and [he] wants it stopped." When a deputy checked, all was quiet. At 3:58 p.m., however, the man complained again. A deputy then said it "sounds like several different septic-tank alarms are going off in the area." A water district worker subsequently said last weeks brownouts may have damaged the alarms switches. Firefighters dealt with the problem.
MARSHALL A man at 7:41 a.m. Monday complained about a massage parlor.
INVERNESS PARK Deputies and firefighters at 11:47 a.m. Monday notified North Marin Water District there was a broken water main along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard downtown.
INVERNESS Medic and deputies were summoned to Kenneth Way at 1:05 p.m. Monday after a man cut his wrist severely. A deputy said the injury, was "accidental from pruning shears" and that blood "was spurting."
MARSHALL An Oakland woman at 10:04 a.m. Sunday reported she had just received a phone call from a married Marshall-Petaluma Road woman, who told her she had stabbed her husband. The stabbing supposedly occurred because the husband had told his 56-year-old wife hed had an affair with the Oakland woman. Deputies, firefighters, and a rescue helicopter raced to the scene only to find that no stabbing had occurred. The Marshall woman, however, said she was "fearful" of her husbands ex-girlfriend, and a deputy told her how to get a court-issued restraining order against the Oakland woman.
TOMALES A resident at 2:06 p.m. Sunday told deputies she had found a nail in her tire Friday and believes the damage was done by her ex-husband, 51, whom she has complained about eight to 10 times in recent weeks. She added that her ex-husband had been seen outside her house Saturday evening "trying to gain entry with a key." At 9:52 p.m. Monday, she told a deputy her daughter had just seen him outside. They responded by calling police in the ex-husbands new hometown on the East Coast. The police, who sent an officer to the mans house, found him at home less than an hour after his reported appearance in Tomales.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 8:25 p.m. reported some of his tools had been stolen from a boat while it was parked beside Sir Francis Drake Boulevard last October. Although he had not reported the theft at the time, the man said he was reporting it now because he "recently found out there was an arrest made of a [person] who has been stealing tools."
FOREST KNOLLS After a woman overdosed on five bottles of pills and became incoherent, medics at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 transported her to a hospital. TOMALES A woman at 10:31 p.m. Feb. 17 reported an 11-month-old boy was having "difficulty breathing." She said the boy "has been sick with some congestion [and is] very noisy when breathing."
WOODACRE San Anselmo Police at 10:42 p.m. Feb. 17 told deputies they had stopped a Datsun coupe whose ignition switch had been punched out." A deputy checked at the Fire Road home of the cars supposed owner, but a woman at the residence said she had "never heard of the registered owner."
BOLINAS A citizen at 9:58 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a "rockslide just occurred" on Highway 1. The caller said debris was on the side of a roadway, and "cars are swerving over the double yellow [line] to avoid the rocks and debris" in the northbound land. Deputies notified the Highway Patrol and Caltrans, and the CHP reported it was a "previous slide marked with Public Works roadsigns."
POINT REYES STATION A San Rafael man, who had been arrested in town four days earlier and jailed on a variety of drug charges, showed up at the sheriffs substation at 12:04 p.m. last Wednesday and asked where his vehicle was. The deputy on duty did not know the answer.
HICKS VALLEY A woman at 12:06 p.m. last Wednesday summoned medics and deputies after a carpenter was found "holding his chest." She told officers the "employee doesnt know what happened. He possibly was squished by [something] unknown." A deputy noted the man did not have "visible injuries."
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 4:41 p.m. last Wednesday said a white stationwagon had been left parked in the middle of the road at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Vallejo Avenue, creating a traffic hazard. She saw two men remove an "item" from the car and leave a note on the car. They then departed in a silver sedan with a large CB antenna.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 5:41 p.m. last Wednesday summoned medics to Sonoma Patio after a 12-year-old boy fell backwards three or four feet and dislocated a knee cap.
FOUR CORNERS A Nicasio resident at 10:31 p.m. last Wednesday reported a car on the Point Reyes Petaluma Road had spun out, ending up "in the ditch [and] partially in the roadway."
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 11:45 a.m. last Thursday told deputies a "neighbor came onto her property while she was out of town last week and chopped some of her trees down." A deputy gave her advice.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 8:23 p.m. last Thursday reported an orange van was parked on Mesa Road downtown. She said the van had Manitoba license plates. A deputy found a Canadian tourist, checked his identification, and released him.
LAGUNITAS A deputy at 12:34 a.m. Friday warned a motorist parked on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard that in this county, people cannot spend nights in their vehicles except in designated campgrounds. The deputy "sent him to park elsewhere."
FOREST KNOLLS A Rosario Road resident at 12:53 p.m. Friday reported hearing shouts downhill from his property, along with gunshots in the past hour. A deputy determined the noise had come from bottle rockets, but whoever had been setting off the fireworks had left.
DILLON BEACH A woman at 10:17 p.m. Friday told deputies that she had refused to let three vehicles enter a campground. She added that "one car full of kids [is] still hanging out in the area."
POINT REYES STATION A deputy at 1:24 a.m. Saturday found a white Toyota parked on Mesa Road with a "street sign in [the] car." Deputies checked with San Anselmo Police, who said the sign is missing from that city. The cars driver told deputies, "The sign was found in Woodacre." Deputies referred the case to San Anselmo Police because of "possible misuse" of the sign.
SAN GERONIMO A resident on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 5:16 a.m. Saturday reported a 78-year-old woman with a medical problem had fallen and was "bleeding from the head [because of a] laceration over an eye." Her husband applied pressure to stop the bleeding, and medics responded.
WOODACRE A man at 10:27 a.m. Saturday reported an ex-customer had left some ammunition and clips at a stable for horses. He asked that they be picked up for destruction.
BOLINAS A resident at 12:55 p.m. Saturday complained about a homeless person sleeping in a tent along Terrace Avenue. He said the man had been camping there since summer. A deputy told the man his camping was illegal, and the man promised to move by March 1.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy on the main street at 9:32 p.m. Saturday found a "verbally uncooperative, very intoxicated" person. When a detoxification center refused to accept the person, the person was jailed on public drunkenness charges.
BOLINAS A woman on Brighton Avenue at 11:56 p.m. Saturday reported "gunfire on Terrace [Avenue]." She said she had heard 10 shots that were coming from different places. The woman later reported the noise was coming from people setting off fireworks.
WOODACRE A homeowner at 2:09 a.m. Sunday reported trying to break up a party after an unknown person threw something through a window. There were 30 people at the party, and deputies were told there had been a physical fight in the driveway and that someone may have punched the window. However, deputies noted, "nobody can give a description."
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin substation, has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substations new phone number is 446-4418.
February 12, 2004 Sheriff's Calls
WOODACRE A resident at 12:54 a.m. Sunday asked deputies what rights parents have to hit their children. She said her daughter and son-in-law are visiting and that she has told her daughter that children are not to be hit in her house. So far the parents havent done so, deputies noted, but the grandmother is concerned they might. The resident wanted to know what should she do if her grandchildren are hit.
INVERNESS PARK Deputies were summoned to Balboa and Portola avenues at 4:38 a.m. Monday when two trees with trunks nine inches in diameter fell across Portola, completely blocking traffic. An officer at the scene noted Portola is partially closed already. Firefighters removed the trees.
POINT REYES STATION Medics responded to A Street at 9:49 a.m. Feb. 10 when an 87-year-old resident with emphysema complained of back pain.
FOREST KNOLLS Medics were summoned to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 12:06 p.m. Feb. 10 after a woman reported that a man in his 50s was suffering liver problems and was disoriented.
CHILENO VALLEY A man at 5:46 p.m. Feb. 10 told deputies that 20 minutes earlier he had found a man in his 30s sitting in the residents vehicle. The resident said he ordered the man, who had cuts on his face, to get out, which he did. The man then drove off in his own vehicle toward Petaluma, the resident said.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Embarcadero homeowner at 9:29 p.m. Feb. 10 asked deputies to check her property. She said she had found evidence of a trespasser vandalizing it.
MARSHALL A ranger at 2:55 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that for the next two nights rangers would be on Tomales Bay using spotlights.
NICASIO A Lucas Valley Road resident at 9:45 a.m. last Thursday told deputies his wife is being harassed and threatened via telephone and in person. The resident said he knows the people doing this and that they are frightening his wife. A deputy determined no "criminal threats" had been made.
MUIR BEACH A Pacific Way resident at 12:56 p.m. last Thursday reported a .38 caliber handgun had been stolen from her residence, possibly by her granddaughters boyfriend. A deputy took a report.
FOREST KNOLLS A man at 6:45 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that 15 minutes earlier he had seen a hit-run accident in which a black Chevrolet pickup backed into a red BMW. He said that after the female motorist hit the vehicle, she asked the [man] "What the f-ck are you looking at?" The man gave deputies the womans name.
FALLON A deputy at 10:42 p.m. last Thursday reported he was on Middle Road dealing with a loose lamb, which was a traffic hazard.
BOLINAS A Terrace Avenue homeowner at 10:31 p.m. Friday reported several people were camping in a tent on his seawall. A deputy checked the peoples identification, told them they were on private property, and they agreed to move along.
NICASIO A landlord at 2:32 p.m. Friday reported finding his tenant "searching through [the landlords] vehicle without permission." He and the tenant have a history of civil-law disputes, an officer noted. The man asked how to handle further issues, and a deputy gave him advice.
FOREST KNOLLS A man at 5:01 p.m. Friday complained about four other men "drinking in front of the store," a deputy reported. He "says they are there every day, [and he] is concerned for the people who walk by." A deputy that checked found two men, but they were merely sitting in the town park and were not drinking.
STINSON BEACH A resident at 7:13 p.m. Friday asked for advice about a "neighbor and the visitors the neighbor has coming over to her residence." A deputy gave her advice.
POINT REYES STATION A man at 1:28 a.m. Saturday reported seeing a group of youths with a white sedan hanging around the gas station. He was not sure what they were doing there at that hour and asked that a deputy check on them. When a deputy arrived, the youths were gone.
WOODACRE Firefighters and deputies at 7:04 a.m. Saturday responded to a chimney fire at a residence on Oak Grove Avenue. A deputy reported that damage was "confined to the attic."
LAGUNITAS Medics responded at 8:19 a.m. Saturday when a 58-year-old man with a history of heart problems complained of dizziness.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 9:29 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that two loose cows were wandering on North Overlook Road. A deputy later reported the cows had been returned to their pasture.
BOLINAS A man at 11:48 a.m. reported that a 31-year-old woman had hit him with an open hand. He said he was not injured.
NICASIO A 45-year-old woman fell from a horse on Old Rancheria Road. A man told deputies the woman was suffering "severe back pain" but was "sweating and breathing okay." He said the rider had been wearing a protective helmet.
BOLINAS Medics and deputies responded to Ocean Parkway at 3:54 p.m. Saturday when a tree branch fell on a 64-year-old man, gashing his head and causing extensive bleeding. Medics transported the man, who had been pruning, to a hospital by ambulance.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 7:55 p.m. Saturday "called back, advising the music is still too loud." A deputy abated the disturbance, and deputies were promised "theyll post a doorman to keep the door closed during the dance tonight." However, the resident called yet again at 9:06 p.m. to complain the music is "still loud. Doors open and close, [and] the music gets louder." A deputy reported he "contacted the doorman, which is keeping the door closed as much as possible. He will have the DJ turn [the volume] down a bit now and a bunch at 10 p.m."
DILLON BEACH A man at 8:03 p.m. Saturday called deputies to find out the "legal age for sexual consent." A deputy left a message on the mans answering machine."
POINT REYES STATION A deputy on the main street at 2:28 a.m. Sunday spotted a blue Chevrolet with its license plate lamp out and stopped the vehicle. The officer asked if the 52-year-old driver was on probation or parole, and the San Rafael motorist said he was not. A check, however, determined he was on probation. As a condition of probation, the motorist had waived his First Amendment rights regarding searches and seizures. When the deputy asked the man if he had anything illegal in his car, the man admitted having a "stem" (pipe for smoking crack). The deputy reported finding methamphetamine in the mans shirt pocket and the crack pipe in a canvas bag on the passengers seat. The officer arrested the man on charges of possessing methamphetamine, possessing drug paraphernalia, and violating probation.
MUIR BEACH A resident at 4:47 a.m. Sunday complained about noise from a party on Sunset Way. A deputy contacted the hostess and told her about the complaint. She said she was "having a quiet party, [but guests] will stay inside house and keep the noise down."
MARSHALL Firefighters and deputies responded at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday when a tree fell across Highway 1 during a storm.
BOLINAS A woman at 8:01 a.m. Monday told deputies her domestic partner had threatened to kill her and has bitten her in the past. Deputies noted the immediate problem was abated when the man left.
MARSHALL The Coast Guard at 9:14 a.m. Monday notified deputies that two kayakers were stranded on the Tomales Bay shore. The Coast Guard said it was in radio contact with the kayakers. As it turned out, a couple had parked at Nicks Cove and paddled across the bay and camped on Marshall Beach in the National Seashore. Park staff said the kayakers "wisely" chose not to paddle back across the bay because of high waves and winds gusting to hurricane force. Ultimately, a Park Service boat picked the couple and their kayak up and returned them to Nicks Cove.
INVERNESS County firefighters at 10 a.m. Monday closed Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Vision Road when high winds knocked down powerlines.
BOLINAS A man at 10:42 a.m. Monday told deputies a merchant in town "has filed false police reports against him for vandalism and carrying a gun." He said he wanted to talk with a deputy about filing a fraud report against the merchant.
POINT REYES STATION The Highway Patrol at 10:55 a.m. Monday forwarded a complaint from a man who said an Inverness motorist had almost driven into him and his dog on Third Street. "He has tried to talk to her, [but] she is unresponsive," a deputy quoted him a saying.
WOODACRE A Redwood Drive landlord at 11:20 a.m. Monday said a trespasser has been driving a dirt bike on his rental property. He gave deputies a possible license number for the motorcycle. A deputy gave the landlord advice about posting signs.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 1:38 p.m. Monday asked a deputy about "emergency-evacuation plans from this location." Her organization "hosts group trips" here, she said.
POINT REYES STATION A Highway 1 resident at 3:24 p.m. Sunday reported a traffic accident between Mesa and Tomasini Canyon roads. The resident said there was a man aged 35 to 40 "walking around. [He] appears confused and disoriented." The resident said he never saw the bearded man driving. However, he had "heard a screech and a crash into a tree." In addition, the mans "vehicle seems damaged."

February 12, 2004 Sheriff's Calls
WOODACRE A Redwood Drive resident at 7:57 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies that "a friend" was "harassing him" and had "pushed and poked him," an officer reported The "friend," 54, had now left, the resident said.
NICASIO A resident at 10 a.m. last Wednesday reported his son had been "contacted by people posing as Earthlink Billing, and they were able to obtain [the residents] Social Security number, and credit card [number]."
INVERNESS A woman at 10:08 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that the previous day she had received "four sales calls for her deceased mother." She said she is "worried that her information is being passed around and want[ed] a deputy to call." A deputy gave her advice.
POINT REYES STATION During a teen party, a youth, without the knowledge of adults brought alcohol, and a 15-year-old girl overdosed on an unknown amount of rum. After she passed out, one of the adults at 12:55 a.m. Sunday notified deputies. The semi-conscious girl was taken to Marin General Hospital.
POINT REYES STATION A female caretaker at 12:15 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a ward in his 80s and suffering from dementia was outside and might leave. If that were to happen, she said, she could not "go after him" because she was alone and could not leave other wards to themselves.
BOLINAS Deputies and medics responded to the school at 2:34 p.m. last Wednesday when an 11-year-old boy had difficulty breathing because of asthma.
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road at 3:15 p.m. last Wednesday gave deputies more information about a computer theft reported earlier.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road landlord at 3:33 p.m. last Wednesday said he believes a former tenant went into the attic and put a hole in the wall. Sheetrock was damaged at three locations inside the building although it was locked; however, an employee and former employee were inside the building, he said. The damage so far has been reported as vandalism, but if the culprit had been trying to break into a room, that would be considered burglary.
LAGUNITAS Deputies and medics responded to Cintura Avenue when an 80-year-old woman had "slight difficulty breathing." A deputy noted the woman had "no medical history" of problems.
FALLON A man at 8:10 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies that a yellow boat has been parked for several months at Marsh and Middle roads. The boat "has been tagged for abandonment, [and the man] would like it towed," a deputy reported. The abandoned boat is encouraging others to dump debris, such as a couch, nearby, the man said.
NICASIO A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 10:26 a.m. last Thursday reported a case of Internet fraud.
WOODACRE A Railroad Avenue resident at 12:31 p.m. last Thursday asked a deputy what his rights were should he find his sons stolen bicycle "on someone elses property." A deputy gave the resident advice.
LAGUNITAS A man at 1:45 last Thursday reported his gate had been damaged two days earlier. The man said the vandalism was done "by someone attempting to get in" and that he "had a failed business arrangement with a neighbor."
SAN GERONIMO The Community Center at 3:06 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that four sackloads of Fairfax mail had been found outside the recycling bin near Lagunitas School. A woman later said she left them there.
OLEMA A deputy at 10:36 p.m. last Thursday stopped a vehicle on Highway 1, and armed with a warrant, arrested a man calling himself Jesus Christ.
STINSON BEACH Deputies and medics at 11:26 a.m. Friday were summoned to Highway 1 when an 82-year-old man with a weak pulse appeared dehydrated. Initially, a rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene but was called off when medics handled the incident.
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road at 3:37 p.m. Friday complained about a drunk man in a yellow trench coat causing a disturbance. A deputy noted the caller sounded as if he had also been drinking. A deputy contacted the second man and determined he was not drunk. The second man said hed had an argument with the first man, who then called deputies. The deputy noted that the second man "was headed home from the store with ice cream and tomato juice when I contacted him."
DOGTOWN A woman at 4:20 p.m. notified the Highway Patrol there was a "large brown calf" on Highway 1 north of town. A deputy could not find the calf.
POINT REYES STATION An "angry" resident at 8 p.m. Friday complained about loud music on Mesa Road. A deputy contacted a woman who said she was having an adult party to get out the Democratic vote and would be closing up in 30 minutes.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 8:45 p.m. Friday reported four black-and-white cows were loose on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Kyleswood. A deputy reported the cows had gotten through a fence designated for firefighters. A rancher and ranchworkers were returning the cows to their pasture, the officer added.
INVERNESS A woman at 10:28 complained that youths were having a loud party on Inverness Way. A deputy determined everyone at the party was an adult. They "all agreed to stay inside and remain quiet," he said.
NICASIO Deputies were summoned at 11:46 p.m. when told a "teenager has had way too much to drink [and] passed out, [but his] breathing is confirmed."
INVERNESS Deputies at 7:14 received a 911 call with static on the line from a Hawthorden Way residence. When officers called back, they got an answering machine. A deputy then contacted someone at the residence, who said they "are having trouble with that phone line, and SBC has been trying to fix it." The deputy reported that he "gave an alternate number to call in case of further 911 calls."
BOLINAS A woman at 7:55 a.m. Saturday reported her 14-year-old daughter was high on marijuana and had begun physically attacking her own father. The girl is already on probation, the mother said, adding that her daughter was now in her own room and calming down.
BOLINAS A Park Avenue resident at 9:42 a.m. Friday asked to meet with a deputy regarding a man "camping on his property." The resident said a deputy several weeks ago in the same area had arrested a man for camping. A deputy met with the resident.
STINSON BEACH The manager of a business at 12:29 p.m. Saturday asked deputies to remove a 24-year-old employee. Deputies were told the employee had shoved the manager.
NICASIO A woman living not far from downtown at 3:09 p.m. Saturday told deputies that "a dark green Mercedes passed her on the road, and the occupants were yelling at her and showed her a handgun." Deputies checked the cars license plate number and found it registered to a resident of Fairfax.
STINSON BEACH Medics and deputies at 5:10 p.m. Saturday went to the assistance of a "16-year-old girl, semi-conscious, [and] unable to move." Just south of the federal beach, the shore becomes a rocky cliff, and to reach the girl, deputies had to follow a ranger along a path. Officers were told the girl had been "injured on the rocks."
WOODACRE Firefighters at 8:15 p.m. Saturday asked deputies to help with traffic control after receiving a report from the Highway Patrol of a vehicle accident just east of the golf course. The CHP had been told that a vehicle was partly blocking Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A deputy, however, determined the mishap was "not an accident [but a] vehicle in a ditch. AAA is en route."
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 12:10 a.m. Sunday received a report of a "brown Chevy pickup" having gone "into the ditch" along Highway 1, halfway to Marshall. A deputy, however, reported the truck was "very abandoned, cold, stuck in the ditch, [and there was] no need for the CHP."
CHILENO VALLEY Deputies and the Highway Patrol at 12:52 a.m. Sunday responded to a report of "cows in the road" in the area of Chileno Valley and Tomales-Petaluma roads. When officers found the cows, however, there was a "handler walking up behind them."
OLEMA Deputies at 10:27 a.m. Sunday received a report that campers with a black Jeep bearing New Jersey license plates had entered the campground late and left early without paying. A deputy gave advice.
BOLINAS A man at 9:59 a.m. Jan. 3 notified deputies that a $20,000 X-ray machine, which he had been repairing, was now missing. The man said he had been using a workbench at a business where he was formerly employed.
INVERNESS PARK The driver of a recycling truck at 2:32 p.m. Feb. 3 reported he "was almost been bitten by a large rottweiler." The driver, who was not injured, said the dogs master had been walking the rottweiler off its leash. Deputies asked the driver to meet them at a church is discuss the incident.
FOREST KNOLLS A woman at 3:27 p.m. Feb. 3 reported that a female pedestrian "with a 10-year-old child" had "jumped" in front of her truck. She said the pedestrian, who was carrying a beer, was wearing a yellow jacket. The caller added that the pedestrian then started yelling at her and threatening her.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics at 3:32 p.m. Feb. 3 responded to Sixth Street when a 56-year-old woman reported chest pains. A deputy noted the woman has a history of heart problems.
BOLINAS A deputy at 5 p.m. Feb. 3 took a possession-of-stolen-property report.
WOODACRE A woman at 5:43 p.m. Feb. 3 told deputies her daughters ex-boyfriend, 28, had just come to the womans house, "was very angry with her, and spit into [her] door." She said he had now left in a gray Ram truck.
INVERNESS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard landlord at 10:07 p.m. Feb. 3 received a complaint from his tenant about a loud radio in the area. A deputy "spoke to a [renter], who said she had contacted the neighbor with the loud radio, and the neighbor turned down the music."
POINT REYES STATION A motorist at 2:52 a.m. Sunday reported almost hitting a black bull that was loose on Highway 1 north of Olema. A deputy contacted the rancher who owns the bull.
MUIR BEACH Deputies and medics responded at 5:33 a.m. when a 29-year-old man began "throwing up blood after excessive drinking."
MARSHALL A man complained that a sailboat and mooring had been moved without permission. The person who did it was not there at the moment, he added. Employees at the boatworks, however, said the person moved the sailboat and mooring for safety reasons. A deputy said he would check further.
POINT REYES STATION A motorcycle crashed on Highway 1 north of town at 1:53 p.m. Sunday. A rescue helicopter picked up the injured biker near the Coastal Access parking lot.
INVERNESS PARK Medics and deputies responded at 2:09 p.m. Sunday to Drakes View Drive when a 74-year-old man fell on his back. The man told officers he has had heart surgery and a hip replacement. Ever since the fall, he said, it hurts to breathe.
DILLON BEACH A man staying on Maui Lane at 3:37 p.m. Sunday reported that an eight-year-old had tripped and fallen down, suffering a cut head. The man said the bleeding had stopped, but he wanted directions to the closest hospital.
INVERNESS An Inverness Way resident at 3:16 p.m. Monday complained about loud music coming from a nearby house. When a deputy arrived, all was quiet, and no one was home at either residence.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 11:05 p.m. Monday reported that a "group of kids hanging out in the street" were "up to no good." A deputy could not find them.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin substation, has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. MUIR BEACH A Seacape Drive resident at 10:36 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that while she was walking her dogs, a white van followed her. She said that when she stopped and turned around to return home, the vehicle continued to follow her.
MARSHALL A deputy at 8:07 a.m. Sunday cited an Oregon motorist on charges of having bogus registration tags.
BOLINAS A resident at 8:18 p.m. Jan. 27 reported receiving a collect call, which he refused, from a man who is under a court order to leave him alone. At 8:11 a.m. Sunday, the resident told deputies that the 49-year-old man had just phoned to say "he would be over in a few minutes and kick his ass," an officer quoted the resident as saying.
WOODACRE A Redwood Drive resident at 1:55 p.m. Sunday asked for advice in evicting a tenant. She said the tenant has a "vicious dog," that the Humane Society "dealt with today," an officer quoted her as saying. The deputy gave the landlord advice regarding evictions and recommended she ask the Humane Society about the "aggressive-dog laws."
POINT REYES STATION The Highway Patrol at 3:44 p.m. Sunday asked deputies to check on a motorcycle crash on Highway 1 between the Doughty Ranch and Tomales Bay Oyster Company. The two people who had been on the motorcycle were "up and walking," the CHP said. A deputy confirmed there was "no injury or property damage."
STINSON BEACH Deputies and medics responded to Panoramic Highway at 7:26 a.m. when a 58-year-old womans breathing became "very faint" and she lost consciousness. Medics attributed her plight to an acute medical problem.
BOLINAS Deputies and medics were summoned downtown at 7:38 a.m. Saturday when a 50-year-old man with a history of heart attacks experienced chest pains.
NICASIO The manager of stables on Nicasio Valley Road at 12:23 p.m. Saturday reported a 50-year-old woman had fallen from a horse. The woman possibly lost consciousness but was "conscious now," the manager said, adding that the rider "did hit her head." The manager said the rider might have a broken rib. Deputies and medics responded.
BOLINAS A woman on Brighton Avenue at 12:26 p.m. Saturday complained about a white panel truck parked so as to block her view of traffic, adding that a stationwagon facing in the wrong direction was parked "right behind it." A deputy cited the truck on charges of illegal parking.
LAGUNITAS An 89-year-old man at 1:30 p.m. Saturday asked deputies who has been complaining to authorities about his dog. When he was told that information was not available to him, the man said "he believes he is being harassed," a deputy quoted him as saying.
DILLON BEACH A citizen walked into the Tomales firehouse at 7:11 p.m. Saturday and reported a car was stranded on Dillon Beach Road. When firefighters arrived, a woman was in the passengers seat and "not being cooperative." She said she was out of gas but was "acting strange," firefighters told deputies.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 9:20 p.m. Saturday told deputies she and her staff had just entered their business and found evidence that someone had been recently smoking in a restroom. She said smoking is not permitted there, that it was not clear how the smoker(s) got into the business, and that she was concerned because of commercial burglaries downtown at Christmas time.
NICASIO Medics at 9:33 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that a woman, who had dined in town earlier, had fallen down, suffering "a split nose and eyebrow." Deputies, who responded along with the medics, said the victim had been taken to a womens restroom for first aid because she was "bleeding profusely from the face...They have her sitting up, applying direct pressure."
WOODACRE A resident at 10:44 p.m. Saturday asked deputies why there was unusually heavy traffic on her block. Deputies determined there was "a large party" of youths.
WOODACRE Deputies at 11:06 p.m. Saturday received a complaint that six or seven cars were gathered on a dirt road above Fire Road. The caller said he "finds bottles and needles up there a lot." In addition, he said, "there is a lot of noise and dangerous driving." A deputy found more than 40 youths on Fire Road. They left the area when he contacted them.
INVERNESS PARK A Portola Avenue resident at 11:26 p.m. Saturday reported that a man and a woman, who had been drinking, had gotten into a quarrel that was "now sort of abated." The woman was on his side of the street with him while the man was on the other side, the resident said. The two had been having a party across the street from the residents home, he said, when they started fighting. A deputy added that the resident didnt see anything else going on.
BOLINAS A deputy at Horseshoe Hill and Olema-Bolinas roads at 2:05 a.m. Sunday cited a motorist for driving with a suspended license. The man was released, but his car was impounded. A deputy noted the motorist has previously been convicted of driving with a suspended license.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A resident at 4:34 a.m. Sunday reported her ex-husband, 40, was at her house although he is not supposed to be there. Despite a language barrier, she managed to tell deputies that a court has ordered him to stay away from her, but he has not yet been served with the order.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 9:36 a.m. Friday told deputies her neighbor, who is also her ex-husband, throws garbage onto her property. He was not doing so at that moment, she said. A deputy gave her advice.
TOMALES Sonoma County deputies at 12:56 p.m. Friday reported they were at a ranch on the Tomales-Petaluma Road after a teacher asked them to check for "poor living conditions" at a childs home. Although the child attends school in Sonoma County, the childs home is in West Marin. Marin deputies subsequently reported the rancher was on the phone with them, "and she is having a conflict with the Sonoma County deputies."
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 1:38 p.m. Friday reported that "for the last three days, [a] neighbor behind her has been shooting a pellet gun. [The neighbor] is...shooting right now." When a deputy arrived on the scene, the neighbor was gone.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 2:11 p.m. Friday reported receiving email dealing with child pornography and also said his credit card had been fraudulently charged $69.95. A deputy determined there was "no merit to [any] fraud yet" but gave him advice.
BOLINAS A man at 3:50 p.m. Friday complained that a homeless person has been sleeping at night on public property downtown although last Wednesday he had assured deputies he would "move on." The caller, who maintains the property, asked deputies for extra patrols of the area.
INVERNESS A man at 8:21 p.m. last Thursday notified the Highway Patrol that a Volvo stationwagon was stuck in a ditch at Inverness Way and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. No one was around the vehicle, the man noted. He had seen another man walking on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard toward Inverness Park but did not know if that man was the motorist.
NICASIO A deputy at 10:33 p.m. last Thursday shot a deer, which had been injured in traffic, to put it out of its misery.
BOLINAS Two vehicles collided at 10:22 a.m. last Thursday on Brighton Avenue. No one was hurt. The drivers exchanged information. There was no need for the CHP to respond.
CHILENO VALLEY A deputy at 10:25 a.m. last Thursday reported an enormous amount of illegal dumping along Wilson Hill Road. The officer said the trash included: "TVs, bikes, car parts, tires, batteries, [a] V-6 engine, plastic buckets, propane tanks, old clothes, and a license plate." The deputy took a report.
DOGTOWN School staff at 2:12 p.m. last Thursday reported a 14-year-old student had punched a worker in the face. Staff noted the student "is not cooperative at this time [but] combative, angry." The boy was temporarily being detained in "the big house," staff said.
BOLINAS A Birch Road resident at 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday reported an abandoned car was on fire in the middle of a field. Firefighters put out the blaze, which a deputy said "was accidental due to either malfunction or parking on grass."
TOMALES High school staff at 12:10 p.m. last Wednesday reported confiscating marijuana from a female student and said she might be under its influence right then. A report was taken for alleged possession of marijuana at school, and the girl was cited to Juvenile Probation.
LAGUNITAS Deputies and medics responded at 9:16 p.m. Jan. 27 when a 74-year-old woman had problems with balance and felt numb on her left side. The woman had fallen a week earlier, and her doctor was concerned she had suffered a head injury, she said.
MUIR BEACH A small "landslide" on Highway 1 near the Zen Center was reported at 11:11 p.m. Jan. 27. The slide consisted of a large boulder and small rocks in the northbound lane. The Highway Patrol "managed to clear...the roadway," a deputy reported, but Caltrans still needed to pick up debris from the roadside.
NICASIO A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 11:45 a.m. Jan. 27 reported a vandal had shot a BB at their front window. The glass did not break, but the BB left a hole in the exterior. The damage was estimated at "close to $1,000."
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road complained at 4:02 p.m. Jan. 27 that a drunk person "is trying to touch people." However, the second man also sounded drunk, and deputies were told the accused person "has been in his house the whole time."
