January 27, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 9:57 p.m. last Thursday told deputies his puppy had gotten loose around 7:30 p.m. A construction worker for a Nicasio contractor, he said, found the dog and gave a business card to the residents neighbor so the resident could pick up his puppy. However, he complained, the neighbor told him she had discarded the card in her garbage and then disposed of the garbage at a friends place. She refused to reclaim the garbage so he could get the construction workers card, he said. The resident was adamant that he wanted his puppy back "right now"; he had just paid $1,000 for it.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics were summoned to a bed-and-breakfast inn at 12:05 a.m. Friday when a 37-year-old woman suffered a severe headache, which was getting worse. Deputies were told the pain was moving to her neck and the back of her shoulder. Then came a report that she was now unable to move her neck. Deputies received word that the woman had suffered migraine headaches years ago, and that this was the second time in two days paramedics had been summoned.
TOMALES A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 9:28 a.m. Friday reported that while the parents were out of the house and "the kids" were having a party, a gun was taken from a display case. She said the .44-caliber Colt pistol was more than 100 years old.
POINT REYES STATION A woman on Highway 1 at 11:20 a.m. Friday notified deputies that during the night a burglar broke into her car. Taken were Christmas presents and hiking boots.
FOREST KNOLLS A state parole officer at 11:24 a.m. Friday asked for a deputys aid in arresting a 44-year-old man for an alleged parole violation. The parole officer said the man "will run when he sees law enforcement" and has a "history of being assaultive."
TOMALES High school staff at 4:21 p.m. Friday reported a drunk student was being detained. A deputy issued a public-drunkenness citation to the student, who was released to his parents. The deputy also cited a second student on charges of possessing alcohol and then let the student go.
MARSHALL A woman at 6:03 p.m. Friday told deputies that a white pickup with a camper shell had "flipped" on Highway 1. She said a man in his 30s had gotten out of the truck.
FOREST KNOLLS A woman at 2:41 a.m. Saturday told deputies she had heard a gunshot, possibly from a shotgun, and then heard a vehicle leaving the area. A deputy found nothing amiss.
INVERNESS A pastor at 9:13 a.m. Saturday told deputies a reckless driver had been spinning donuts in the church parking lot for the past two nights. Deputies said they would provide extra patrols in the area.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 9:13 a.m. Saturday said she feared there would be trouble if her 44-year-old ex-boyfriend returned even though she was leaving his belongings outside for him to pick up. The resident said he had threatened to kill himself after they broke up.
WOODACRE A Redwood Drive resident at 9:30 am. Saturday said that a $150 washer-and-dryer combination had been stolen from his driveway the previous night. He said he had planned to sell them but had not yet posted a price.
BOLINAS Medics responded at 9:34 a.m. Saturday when a 60-year-old woman remained "dizzy for a few days."
FOREST KNOLLS A Jared Avenue resident at 10:03 a.m. Saturday reported a theft from her parked vehicle.
WOODACRE A woman at 11:15 a.m. Saturday reported that a vandal had slashed two tires on her pickup truck.
INVERNESS A woman at 1:13 p.m. Saturday told deputies her landlady wants to break her and her male companions lease. The woman said their landlady has been going into their home daily without notice. The landlady told a deputy she had not entered their home without notice and that the couple were scam artists.
BOLINAS A woman at Wharf Road and Brighton Avenue reported a mans vehicle was blocking hers. When she asked him to move his vehicle, the man "drove at her," a deputy quoted her as saying. She told the deputy the man was in his 70s and had no teeth.
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at 5:24 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that a thief had stolen a car stereo and CDs during the night from three vehicles parked on the same property.
OLEMA The Humane Society at 6:18 p.m. Saturday asked that a deputy check on "a report of a deer or goat tangled in a fence" along Highway 1. A deputy could not find any tangled animal.
INVERNESS PARK A man on Vallejo Avenue at 11:02 p.m. Sunday reported that a second man, 58, had passed out for a few seconds and now has abdominal pains. He said the second man has a history of diabetes and heart problems.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 8:35 p.m. Saturday told deputies that it sounded as if someone was throwing things at her window. She said she was especially concerned because her sons car had previously been vandalized.
STINSON BEACH A caller in the Arenal Avenue neighborhood complained about "people working on their cars and making a lot of noise" at 11:20 p.m. Saturday. A deputy got the people to stop.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 1:38 a.m. Sunday told deputies someone on the beach was throwing fireworks and that someone was camping on the beach. A deputy found approximately 50 campers and "multiple campfires" spread among 10 to 15 campsites. The officer said the camping was legal at this time of year but warned everyone that fireworks are illegal.
BOLINAS A different Brighton Avenue resident at 8:33 p.m. last Wednesday complained that a maroon Volvo was blocking his driveway. It was gone when a deputy arrived.
SAN GERONIMO A resident at 8:51 p.m. last Wednesday complained about a truck that was not supposed to be on a private road. She said she thought the occupants might be casing homes along the road. The residents husband confronted the occupants of the truck, who were about 21, and said they were looking for their dogs. The resident told deputies she now thought the young men were looking for a place to get stoned.
POINT REYES STATION A merchant at 9:19 p.m. last Wednesday complained about a "drifter" sitting outside his business. He said the drifter, who was in his 30s and had a backpack, appeared to be drunk because his speech was slurred. The merchant said he had spoken to the drifter earlier, and the man had said he was going to hitchhike to San Rafael. However, the man had now returned to the business, the merchant said.
TOMALES A Highway 1 resident at 2:48 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that someone wearing a large black hat and wrapped in a brown blanket was in front of her house. The resident said that when she returned home, the person was lying in her driveway. The resident added that the persons gender was not apparent. A deputy contacted the person and determined she was merely hitchhiking to Oregon.
WOODACRE A Carson Road resident at 4:52 p.m. last Wednesday complained of receiving hangup calls, in which the caller says nothing, for the last three weeks. Deputies advised her to tell the caller that if the calls dont stop, she will call officers, who have told her the phone company can help trace the calls.
WOODACRE A resident at 8:20 a.m. Jan. 18 said someone had alerted her that a real estate sign in the area of Railroad Avenue and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard was being vandalized. The resident said she saw a woman, whose red BMW was parked nearby, "pull the sign out of the ground and stomp on it."
BOLINAS A woman at 9:27 a.m. Jan. 18 complained that a black Saturn coop and a black Volvo were blocking the street at Elm and June roads. The vehicles were gone when a deputy arrived.
BOLINAS A woman at 4:01 p.m. Jan. 18 notified deputies that a 35-year-old pregnant woman was yelling inside and outside. A deputy determined the pregnant woman was "not injured" and that "all [was] okay."
POINT REYES STATION The new commander of the sheriffs West Marin substation, Lt. Scott Anderson, has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. The Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substations phone number is now 446-4418.
January 20, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
TOMALES A Highway 1 caller at 12:08 a.m. Saturday told deputies "a large bull is in the roadway, [and] possibly injured, [for] it was limping." The caller added that the bull "looked angry." Dispatchers told deputies to look for "a large white bull [thats] not very happy." The caller subsequently gave the dispatcher a running account of the bull moving "three feet off the roadway. He just went into a gated area. Hes gated now."
FOREST KNOLLS A woman at 8:42 p.m. Friday told deputies a vehicle was slipping off the roadway. Firefighters responded, and a deputy later reported the "vehicle is back on the roadway."
BOLINAS A merchant at 9 p.m. Friday complained about a man creating a disturbance in a bar. The man was "now walking around outside" where his white Volvo was parked, the merchant said. A dispatcher told deputies, "We dealt with him out there last week."
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD Deputies at 2:30 a.m. Friday received a report of a traffic accident 1.5 miles "past" Platform Bridge. Officers were told two people had been injured, that the driver had a broken arm, and that a female passenger had an abdominal injury." A deputy could not find the crash.
WOODACRE Deputies and medics responded at 8:44 p.m. last Thursday when the Highway Patrol passed along a message from a man at an equestrian center. The man reported his girlfriend had fallen from a horse in an arena, and although she landed on soft dirt, she said she "has a sharp pain in her side and lower back."
FOUR CORNERS During a traffic stop at 12:50 p.m. last Thursday, a deputy found a "small amount of marijuana" in the vehicle and confiscated it for destruction. The driver was cited for the traffic violation but not the marijuana.
FOREST KNOLLS A Forest Drive resident at 7:58 a.m. last Thursday reported his vehicle had been rummaged through during the night. The faceplate to the vehicles stereo system had been stolen, the man said, but he was still determining if anything else was missing.
WOODACRE A resident at 11:36 a.m. last Thursday requested extra patrols in her neighborhood because of loud explosions and vandalism in the area. She said a group of juveniles have been seen hanging around the neighborhood in the early evening.
SAN GERONIMO A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 2:17 p.m. last Thursday cited a motorist on a charge of driving with a suspended license. The motorists Jeep was towed away.
OLEMA The driver of a Nissan at 4:54 p.m. last Thursday was cited for running a red light at the main crossroads, for not having a drivers license, and not having vehicle insurance. The vehicle was towed away.
POINT REYES STATION A downtown resident at 5:29 p.m. last Thursday reported a boy about 12 was speeding through the streets of town on a mini-motorcycle. Furthermore, the boy was not wearing a helmet, he said. A deputy was unable to find the adolescent.
LAGUNITAS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 9:37 p.m. Jan. 11 reported a vehicle had run off the road and was in a creek. She said she could hear a man yelling, "Throw a rope." Deputies subsequently received a another report of the mishap from a second witness.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A rancher at 7:56 a.m. Jan. 11 reported he had written an $80 check to a worker and that an extra zero had been added, making it an $800 check. The check was cashed at a check-cashing service. Although the true value of any check is the written amount, the clerk at the check-cashing service failed to notice the numerical part of the check was different from the written part. The check-cashing service repaid the rancher his missing $720 and said it would attempt to get the money back from the worker.
OLEMA A resident at 9:15 a.m. Jan. 11 reported an attempted break-in. A small mark on a door revealed the break-in attempt, he said.
POINT REYES STATION A caretaker at 1:34 p.m. called deputies from out of town to say she was concerned that her travel trailer on her patients property would be towed away while she is gone. She said no one has permission to move the trailer. A deputy gave her advice.
POINT REYES STATION A main street merchant at 3:20 p.m. Jan. 11 reported a woman in her 40s was in front of the business "disturbing customers." She was "yelling at people and trying to start conflicts," the merchant said. Deputies determined the woman was manic depressive and not taking her medication, but she was being cared for by her boyfriend.
DOGTOWN School staff at 11:50 p.m. Jan. 10 reported a "large 14-year-old [boy]" was "out of control." He had started a fire and broken into a classroom, but he is "not violent yet," staff said. Staff described the 14 year old as 6-foot, 2-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds.
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at Arroyo Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard reported finding a handicapped-driver placard in the street.
MARSHALL Deputies at 3:57 p.m. Jan. 10 received a report of a bull on the Marshall-Petaluma Road causing a traffic hazard. Since the nearest deputy and the nearest Highway Patrol officer were each 45 minutes away from the scene, the Sheriffs Office let the Highway Patrol deal with the matter.

January 13, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
OLEMA A man at 10:51 p.m. Sunday told deputies a burglar stole his wifes purse from their car while it was parked two miles east of the Bolinas Trailhead. He said the burglar had already used her debit card twice, adding that he could not get through to their bank to have the card canceled.
INVERNESS PARK Deputies and medics responded at 9:01 a.m. Sunday after being notified that an 82-year-old man had experienced an altered state of consciousness at 2 a.m. Deputies were told the man was now "alert and breathing okay."
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 2:36 p.m. Sunday told deputies her son and daughter-in-law were "stalking" her. She said both have a history of drug abuse, adding that her daughter-in-law is manic depressive and not taking her medication. The resident said she feared the two were coming to her home.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 5:04 p.m. Sunday reported a black Volvo was blocking her driveway and that she "cant get in or out." A deputy determined the car was owned by a townswoman, ticketed it, contacted the owner, and had the car moved.
POINT REYES STATION A Sausalito woman walked into the Sheriffs Substation at 6:09 p.m. Sunday after getting into an argument with a Corte Madera woman at a restaurant in town. She said the two had met a week earlier, hit it off, decided to go to church at Glide Memorial, and then visited an art gallery in Point Reyes Station. However, they got into an argument, and the Corte Madera woman decided she didnt want the Sausalito woman in her car. The Sausalito woman ultimately took a taxicab home at a cost of $85.
LAGUNITAS A car ran off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and crashed into a tree east of Samuel P. Taylor State Park. The Highway Patrol at 7:36 p.m. Saturday reported the driver, who might have been drunk, was now trying to hitchhike from the scene, leaving his car in the middle of the boulevard.
BOLINAS A bouncer at 9:14 p.m. Saturday told deputies a man had been "acting crazy and was asked to leave" a bar. He then got upset and asked, "You wanna live? Come on, lets go!" the bouncer said, adding that the man had parked a white Volvo in the bars driveway.
POINT REYES STATION Staff of a restaurant at 9:43 p.m. Saturday said two men had been asked to leave after one of them, 24 and "muscular," began "making very inappropriate sexual remarks." The two took beer with them, but the bartender had "retrieved" the beer.
BOLINAS A resident at 10:05 p.m. Saturday complained that five vehicles were parked at Park and Brighton avenues, with people sleeping in them. A deputy found only one recreational vehicle at the scene and moved the occupants along.
BOLINAS Staff of a bar at 11:45 p.m. Saturday reported a townsman had almost hit pedestrians when he drove off in a yellow car, noting he "has been verbal at the bar emotional." The staff added the 48-year-old man was now leaving the bar "again."
OLEMA A county Department of Public Works employee at 1:52 p.m. last Wednesday reported a motorhome was stalled on the east side of Olema Hill, "blocking the road in a bad location." Deputies were en route to set out flares when DPW got the motorhome started, and it left.
FOREST KNOLLS A caller at 5:20 p.m. last Wednesday reported an 18 year old, who was four months pregnant, was having a miscarriage and had gone into an altered state of consciousness. She had "excessive bleeding," the caller said. Medics responded.
BOLINAS A resident at 6:43 p.m. last Wednesday complained that a motorhome had been parked in the area of Park Avenue for several days. When a deputy arrived on the scene, no one was in the motorhome. The officer put a note on the vehicle warning that it would be towed away in 72 hours unless it was moved.
INVERNESS A resident at 8:33 p.m. Saturday told deputies that when she told her husband he was being evicted and that she planned a separation, they got into a "conflict" and he became angry afterward. She said she was afraid of his coming back. A deputy told her how to get a court to issue a restraining order that he stay away from her.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 1:16 p.m. Saturday reported six or seven males were fighting on Vallejo Avenue.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 3:38 p.m. Saturday said a man had been leaving his bicycle in her barn but taking it out sometimes. She said the man might be living in the barn and that one of her sons mountain bicycles is missing. She noted deputies had already told the man to stay away from the area.
NICASIO Medics responded at 6:30 p.m. Saturday after a man notified deputies that a 90-year-old resident had fallen. He said it was the third time she had fallen in the past two weeks.
FOREST KNOLLS A Rosario Road resident at 7:31 p.m. Friday reported a drunk man was sitting in the rain in front of her house and talking to himself. A deputy arrested the 40-year-old man on charges of public drunkenness.
WOODACRE A resident in the vicinity of Park Street and Railroad Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Friday reported hearing a "loud explosion," adding that she had heard a similar explosion while downtown two weeks earlier. She said youths might be setting off fireworks. A deputy could not find them. Deputies at 9:38 p.m. received a second call from a resident who said she had seen a three youths in a black van taking flash photos after an explosion downtown.
SAN GERONIMO A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 1:31 a.m. Saturday arrested a motorist on charges of drunk driving.
SAN GERONIMO A resident at 10:39 a.m. Friday told deputies a stranger had obtained "personal data" about her from an Internet message board. The person was now using her name and contacting various businesses, who notified her. She said the culprit for two days had been saying untrue things about her to her friends.
BOLINAS A Humane Society officer at 12:09 p.m. Friday asked for a deputy to back her up while she impounded a horse in Bolinas. She said the owner "is known to be violent" and mentally disturbed.
INVERNESS A woman at 2:09 p.m. Friday said a 50-year-old boarder was drunk and had been yelling at her. The resident said she did not think the man would be violent.
OLEMA A citizen at 4:34 p.m. Friday reported a vehicle had run off Highway 1 a mile south of town. Deputies were told the vehicle was unoccupied but needed to be towed.
DOGTOWN A man at 6:28 p.m. Friday reported a vehicle had run off Highway 1, and the driver was walking around it.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy on Cypress Road at 7:24 p.m. last Thursday arrested a person for violating terms of probation.
BOLINAS A man at 8:07 p.m. last Thursday told deputies he had received a call from a telemarketer who asked for his credit card number and street address. The man said he was suspicious of the telemarketer.
SAN GERONIMO A Sylvestris Drive resident at 11:13 p.m. last Thursday complained about someone hammering on a house for the past 15 minutes. She said she wanted it stopped. The hammering stopped 10 minutes before a deputy arrived, and the officer determined a neighbor had merely been covering his house to keep out the rain.
FOREST KNOLLS A man at 8:53 a.m. last Thursday heard a loud explosion and saw a bright flash. He told deputies the noise did not come from a gunshot. An officer could find nothing amiss.
POINT REYES STATION An 85-year-old man at 9:26 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies hed had a pain in his legs for a few days. Medics responded.
POINT REYES STATION Two men at the Green Bridge called the Highway Patrol at 12:28 a.m. last Thursday and said they had been dropped off in town, needed to get home to Bolinas, were stranded, and had no money for a taxi. A deputy took them home.
NICASIO The Department of Public Works at 8:14 a.m. last Wednesday reported a white pickup truck was spinning donuts on Nicasio Valley Road. Deputies could not find the truck but using its license plate number traced the vehicle to a San Geronimo resident.
POINT REYES STATION An 85-year-old man reported receiving a knee injury that had been hurting for the last 12 hours. Medics responded.
HICKS VALLEY A vehicle ran off the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road in heavy fog at 7:19 a.m. Jan. 4 in the same spot a car had run off the road a day earlier, hitting a power pole which pulled down a second poll and closed the road for 11 hours. In the later crash, the vehicle overturned on a blind curve. Injuries were minor.
HICKS VALLEY Firefighters at 8:29 a.m. Jan. 4 reported a vehicle had run into a ditch at Point Reyes-Petaluma and Wilson Hill roads in heavy fog. The driver was not hurt. She acknowledged driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone despite the fog and wet pavement.
BOLINAS Deputies at 8:37 a.m. Jan. 4 received a report of a male and female yelling at each other about a dent in a car. The caller said she could hear a mother yelling at her son "about writing his dad off." The caller also said she could hear swearing and pounding.
BOLINAS A resident at 10:54 a.m. Jan. 4 reported another woman, who owns a white Jeep, had been living in a motorhome on the Big Mesa for an extended period of time. When a deputy went to the motorhome, no one was in it. He suggested the resident contact the county Planning Division.
POINT REYES STATION Medics responded at 10:46 p.m. Jan. 3 when an 87-year-old man reported having chest pains.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 12:37 a.m. Jan. 4 reported her ex-husband, 27, was breaking a window of her house and had already broken into her car. She said a court has issued a restraining order to her ex-husband that he stay away from her. She said he has a drinking problem.
FOREST KNOLLS A caller at 3:40 p.m. Jan. 3 reported a man in his 40s had been setting off fireworks for an hour. A deputy could not find him.

January 6, 2005 Sheriff's Calls
POINT REYES STATION A woman on Highway 1 at 11:23 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a 61-year-old man was suffering sudden abdominal pain and was very nauseous. Initial indications were that he had neither a heart attack nor appendicitis. Medics responded.
BOLINAS A man on Olema-Bolinas Road at 1:05 p.m., Sunday reported finding a rifle. The man said he did not know if it was loaded, and he was keeping it in the trunk of his car until he could hand it over to a deputy. When a deputy told the man the rifle was actually a BB gun, the man asked if he could keep it since it was found on private property.
NICASIO A resident of Camino Margarita subdivision at 2:19 p.m. Sunday reported a propane tank at her house was leaking. Firefighters took care of the problem.
BOLINAS A woman, who said she had been drinking, at 4:22 p.m. Sunday said a second woman had injured a resident on Wharf Road. The man, who also was intoxicated, had been taken inside the community center. He told deputies the second woman had broken his nose and knocked out a tooth.
MOUNT TAMALPAIS A man at 8:11 p.m. New Years Day called the Highway Patrol from Ridgecrest Boulevard to report a companion hed been hiking with got lost on Cataract Hill of the Dipsea Trail. County firefighters responded.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 10:49 p.m. New Years Day told deputies she had heard a young male grunting and then cry for help four times. The resident said she had also heard a "scuffle and then a car door slamming," but she hadnt "heard a car driving away."
JEWELL Deputies at 11:37 p.m. New Years Day received a report of a traffic accident on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 12:15 a.m. Sunday reported her 91-year-old husband might be having a heart attack. He has a history of heart problems and was having chest pains, she said. Medics transported him to Marin General Hospital.
BOLINAS An Elm Road resident at 10:50 a.m. New Years Day complained that his neighbors "are committing minor acts of mischief" on his property. He asked that deputy speak to them about it.
BOLINAS Medics responded at noon New Years Day when a 67-year-old woman with a history of heart problems developed chest pains. Deputies were told she was also having problems breathing. Medics transported her to a hospital.
WOODACRE Firefighters at 9:28 p.m. New Years Eve reported hearing five or six gunshots in the past two minutes. Firefighters said it sounded like handgun fire in the vicinity of Madrone Avenue and Rock Ridge Road or Redwood Drive. A deputy could find nothing amiss. At 11:23 p.m. a resident in the vicinity of Madrone Avenue and Maple Road reported hearing explosions two minutes ago and 20 minutes ago. Again a deputy could find nothing amiss.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 9:33 p.m. New Years Eve reported a 90-year-old man was "semi-conscious" and that she was "unable to get him out of the chair." She said he was "very weak." She also said the man had a hip problem, heart problem, eye problem, and prostate cancer. Medics transported him to Marin General Hospital.
NICASIO The Highway Patrol at 8:45 a.m. New Years Eve told deputies that a vehicle and a bicyclist had collided on Nicasio Valley Road and that the bicyclist was lying in the roadway. Landing at Nicasio Square, a rescue helicopter transported the bicyclist to the John Muir Medical Center.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 9:55 a.m. New Years Eve received a 911-hangup call from a downtown home. When deputies called back, "a mother and child came on the phone stating two of the children were fighting, and everything is okay."
DILLON BEACH A woman on Oceana Drive at 11:38 a.m. New Years Eve notified deputies that a 36-year-old man had fallen into a hole and injured his back. She said he "fell off a few feet and caught himself." There was "no loss of feeling or paralysis," she said. Medics responded.
BOLINAS A resident in the vicinity of Park Avenue at 12:48 p.m. New Years Eve told deputies that a Dodge motorhome "has been parked [on Park Avenue] on and off since July with someone living in it." He said the owner of the motorhome also has a Mazda parked nearby. He asked deputies to let the owner know that vehicular habitation is illegal in Marin County.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 4:20 p.m. New Years Eve told deputies a vandal possibly using a hammer had the previous day damaged the drivers door of his car, which now would not open. A deputy concluded the residents parked vehicle had been hit by another vehicle.
BOLINAS Deputies at 9:08 p.m. last Thursday received a report of a couple having a domestic dispute. A caller told officers a woman in her late 20s, who had been drinking, might be preparing to drive off. Deputies were told that the aggressor in the quarrel was the man.
BOLINAS A doctor at 9:46 p.m. last Thursday reported an older woman had been found dead of natural causes. Apparently a change to an earlier radio dispatch was necessary, for deputies were subsequently told that the coroner wanted the body turned over to a mortuary and to "disregard transport to Olema Deli."
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at 8:25 a.m. last Thursday called deputies from a payphone to say he had been told by a friend "not to come over because there are some crazy people there." Deputies checked on the welfare of all concerned.
MARSHALL A man at 8:44 p.m. called deputies from Highway 1 to say a motorist had "totaled" her car four miles north of downtown. He said the woman was not injured, but a towtruck was needed. Deputies referred the matter to the Highway Patrol.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 2:23 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that a vehicle had overturned near White House Pool. He said the people in the vehicle appeared to be trapped and that a woman in the vehicle had a head injury although she was "alert and conscious." Deputies and the Highway Patrol responded.
PLATFORM BRIDGE A man at 8:48 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a vehicle had overturned and that there were "injuries." Deputies were later told the driver had gotten out of the vehicle and was "conscious, alert, and talking." Deputies and the Highway Patrol responded.
SAN GERONIMO The golf pro at San Geronimo Valley Golf Course said he had been told that one of the employees had collapsed on the first fairway. The pro said he was shutting down his shop to investigate. Medics responded.
INVERNESS A resident at 12:04 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies a 40-year-old sister was "extremely hostile and dangerous." The sister was described as "extremely aggressive." She had "refused to leave, and she forced her way into the house by having her hand and foot in the door."
STINSON BEACH A resident at 1:52 p.m. last Wednesday complained that his landlord may have been in his home while he was away. He asked for advice.
BOLINAS A resident at 7:54 p.m. Dec. 28 told deputies he had left a suitcase "just outside" his house, and it "is now missing."
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics responded at 11:03 a.m. Dec. 28 when a woman reported a 74-year-old man was bleeding internally.
TOMALES A woman at 1:29 p.m. Dec. 28 reported she had seen a flock of sheep, mostly young lambs, on Dillon Beach Road 15 minutes earlier.
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 4:35 p.m. Dec. 28 reported he and two ranchers had heard a loud explosion somewhere on the Mesa. Although a bang was also heard at the Sheriffs Substation, people on the Mesa said they had not heard anything.
INVERNESS PARK A transformer exploded on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 8:37 p.m. Dec. 27. Although the transformer was blackened, the explosion did not start a fire. Deputies notified PG&E.
FOREST KNOLLS Deputies at 11:05 p.m. Dec. 27 received a report of a gunshot or explosion. A deputy spoke to a resident on Montezuma Road who also heard a "bang," but the officer could find nothing amiss.
MUIR BEACH A resident at 9:46 a.m. Dec. 27 reported finding a bicycle on Highway 1 and moving it onto the shoulder. The resident was concerned that "someone fell in the area."
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 9:54 a.m. Dec. 27 reported that a 48-year-old man was missing.
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road at 11:16 a.m. Dec. 27 reported he "ran an ad on eBay to sell a van for $2,200 and had contact back from someone who sent ... a check for $5,500." The buyer told him, he said, "to take the remainder for shipping charges." However, he had "just heard from his bank that it is a counterfeit check." Since the van was still in the mans possession, a deputy concluded, "There is no crime here."
POINT REYES STATION The new commander of the sheriffs West Marin substation, Lt. Scott Anderson, has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. The Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substations phone number is now 446-4418.
