January 31, 2002 Sheriff's Calls
INVERNESS A Buena Vista Avenue resident at 6:51 p.m. last Thursday complained that her 16-year-old brother had thrown a football at her during an argument.
BOLINAS A deputy on Brighton Avenue at 11 a.m. last Thursday arrested a 54-year-old man on a warrant for not showing up in court to face public-drunkenness charges.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 9:55 p.m. Monday complained about possible vehicle habitation in a large mobilehome accompanied by a green pickup truck. At the time, both were parked at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Arroyo Road, and the caller said the mobilehome has been parked around the neighborhood for several days. The caller reported seeing lights but no people in the mobilehome. When a deputy checked, the mobilehome was unoccupied.
INVERNESS PARK A deputy at 10:40 a.m. Monday provided traffic control while county firefighters cut up a tree that fell across Drakes View Drive at Douglas Drive.
NICASIO A resident at 7:54 p.m. last Wednesday claimed that her husband had beaten her in a fight over her medication. Deputies noted she had been drinking wine and that he had been drinking as well. At 3:35 p.m. Saturday, the woman told deputies that her husband had taken her wallet and would not let her leave their residence. She said she was locking herself in a room. And at 10:48 a.m. Monday, she called once more, this time complaining that her husband had taken her wallet again. A dispatcher noted she "sounded unstable," and a deputy said she is having "health problems."
TOMALES Deputies at 5:47 p.m. Monday received a report that sheep were on Dillon Beach Road and that a gate to their pasture was open. An officer called three ranchers before finding the owner.
TOMALES A motorist at 2:29 a.m. Monday went to a house on Highway 1 and called deputies to say he was out of gas. The nearest deputy said he was "an hour away because of heavy snow." Before the deputy reached the scene, a Highway Patrol officer gave the motorist a ride to Petaluma.
BOLINAS A woman at 3:51 p.m. Sunday reported her car had been damaged while it was being repaired on Elm Road. She said she knows who did the damage and wanted to file a report.
POINT REYES STATION A man at 5:12 p.m. Sunday complained about a white car speeding in the area of B Street and Highway 1. He said this is an ongoing problem and that he wanted deputies to see the cars tire tracks.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A Park Service dispatcher at 5:26 p.m. Sunday reported a man was seen carrying a gun as he walked with a woman on Limantour Road. Before a deputy could reach the scene, however, his call was canceled when it turned out the man had merely found part of a shotgun.
INVERNESS PARK A man at 6:05 p.m. Sunday reported an injured deer was lying beside Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. By the time a deputy got there, the deer was dead.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 6:52 p.m. Sunday asked deputies to check on the welfare of her 45-year-old mother, who had gone to Gilroy to give her estranged husband some paperwork. She said there had been domestic violence in the past.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 7:57 p.m. Saturday complained about juveniles hanging out at Balboa and Portola avenues, drinking beer, and leaving bottles and other garbage around. She asked for extra patrols in the area.
BOLINAS An anonymous caller at 10:10 p.m. Saturday reported a disturbance caused by skateboarders hanging out under a street light at Brighton and Park avenues. A deputy contacted the juveniles and advised them.
BOLINAS A woman at 10:54 p.m. Saturday complained about loud music coming from a pickup truck parked on Wharf Road. A deputy could not find the truck, and the only gathering on Wharf Road was a group of people quietly smoking outside a business.
OLEMA A woman at 10:21 a.m. Saturday reported someone had entered her Highway 1 cottage the previous night, left muddy footprints, and moved things around. However, nothing was taken, and there was no sign of forced entry. A deputy concluded that "unknown people" had entered the cottage and spent a night there.
STINSON BEACH A propane delivery driver accidentally set off a burglar alarm on Calle del Piños at 2:54 p.m. Saturday.
HICKS VALLEY A rancher complained about a four-wheel-drive pickup truck parked on the Marshall-Petaluma Road at 4:55 p.m. Saturday. He said "half-naked" people in the truck were having sex, had thrown condoms out the window, relieved themselves outside the truck, and left behind garbage. The rancher told officers he wanted the people to "clean up their mess."
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A woman at 6:24 p.m. Saturday reported three males with a canoe were creating a traffic hazard on a curve by trying to flag down motorists. She said the three were trying to get to Samuel P. Taylor State Park after becoming stuck while canoeing in Papermill/Lagunitas Creek. They had told her they were unable to travel any further by water, she said.
TOMALES A Salinas man at 7:03 p.m. Friday notified deputies he had bought a vehicle in Tomales seven months ago but cant get it registered. A deputy gave him advice.
DILLON BEACH A man at 7:10 p.m. Friday reported five or six cattle were on Valley Ford-Franklin School Road. A deputy left a message on their owners answering machine.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD Medics at 8:57 p.m. Friday responded to a report of a child falling off a chair and found no sign of foul play. As it turned out, the child was watching the country-music channel, got excited, started dancing on a sofa, and fell off.
BOLINAS A deputy at 9:57 p.m. Friday received a report that a 15-year-old boy was threatening to hurt himself and had already cut his arms. He was taken to the countys crisis unit and placed on a 72-hour old.
FOREST KNOLLS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 11:55 p.m. Friday notified deputies she could hear fireworks nearby but could not see them. A Candalero Road resident notified deputies the noise could possibly be gunshots. A third caller on Aztec Avenue, however, reported seeing fireworks in the sky.
LAGUNITAS A car was found overturned on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 5:43 a.m. Saturday. When a Highway Patrol officer responded, he found no occupants.
WOODACRE A tree limb fell across San Geronimo Valley Drive at 6:53 a.m. Saturday. A deputy reported the limb was cut up and moved to the side of the road, which was then reopened.
DILLON BEACH A man at 9:36 p.m. last Thursday reported 12 black cows were on Dillon Beach-Franklin School Road. A deputy, who assisted the Highway Patrol, later reported the "cows went home."
MUIR BEACH A man at 1:28 p.m. last Thursday found a sports utility vehicle on Pacific Way with two well-dressed men in their 50s tapping into a Pacific Bell junction box. The two claimed to work for "Cal Com," he said, but took off in their SUV when he confronted them.
SAN GERONIMO A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 4:22 p.m. last Thursday reported someone had tried to break into a storage container on his property. A ladder was taken, and he could see damage to the containers locks, he said.
SAN GERONIMO A man at 6:29 p.m. last Thursday reported his wife was home alone on Sylvestris Drive and someone she didnt recognize was banging on the door. A deputy could not find the person, and the husband surmised the suspect might be a juvenile from the neighborhood.
PLATFORM BRIDGE ROAD A deputy at 9:06 p.m. last Wednesday found a man wrapped in a white blanket, who was from a San Jose halfway house. The man was placed on a 72-hour-hold at the county crisis unit.
DILLON BEACH A man at 10:24 p.m. last Wednesday reported seven or eight sheep were on Dillon Beach Road near a hairpin turn. The sheep were gone when a deputy arrived.
BOLINAS A deputy at 12:49 a.m. found an "extremely intoxicated man on the ground all wet," with a friend trying to assist him. The man was taken to Marin General Hospital with a head injury.
TOMALES Firefighters at 10:07 a.m. last Wednesday reported three sheep on Dillon Beach Road. A deputy reported the sheep were "herded back into [their] pasture."
SAN GERONIMO A resident at 11 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies her car had been egged the previous day and that she had located one of the kids who did it. She said she had contacted the childs parents, as well as the parents of the other children, but the other parents hadnt responded and she wanted to file a report. Already, she said, the paint on her car was cracking. A deputy gave her advice.
BOLINAS A woman at 2:45 p.m. last Wednesday complained about utility trucks parked next to the firehouse on Mesa Road. She said her car has been damaged by gravel sprayed by the utility trucks when they come and go from their lot. The truck drivers had been "very rude" to her, she added.
BOLINAS An Iris Road man at 8:22 a.m. Jan. 22 reported a red Honda car was blocking his driveway and that there was an "extreme language barrier" between him and the driver. A deputy gave him advice.
WOODACRE A deputy at 1:03 p.m. Jan. 22 contacted the driver of a maroon BMW after a woman complained he drives too fast on her narrow road.
WOODACRE A Central Avenue resident at 5:06 p.m. Jan. 22 reported a man wearing "large glasses" had looked in the window while her son was home alone. The man has been hanging around the area lately, she added.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowners signs a release. The substations phone number is 663-1151.
January 24, 2002 Sheriff's Calls
POINT REYES STATION Deputies took a young man to a detoxification facility after he was arrested at 11:12 p.m. last Thursday on charges of loitering on property along Overlook Road.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A Park Service dispatcher at 7:31 p.m. Monday reported there were three large steers on the pavement at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Pierce Point Road. A deputy contacted an owner of the steers, but she said her whole family had the flu and couldnt respond. The cows apparently had escaped their pasture by going through a hole in a fence, and the woman advised deputies "that if you drive very slowly behind the cows with your lights off, they will go back in where they came out."
FOREST KNOLLS A woman at 10:59 p.m. Monday reported that a homeless man was back in town, for she could hear him laughing somewhere in the area of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and East Cintura Avenue. The man has Tourettes syndrome, which sometimes causes him to laugh uncontrollably. A deputy could not find him.
FOUR CORNERS A deputy helped the Highway Patrol with a non-injury traffic accident at 1:47 p.m. Sunday.
OLEMA A motorcyclist crashed a mile south of downtown at 1:57 a.m. Monday. The biker received only minor injuries, but a deputy notified the Highway Patrol the motorcyclist appeared to be a drunk driver.
STINSON BEACH A resident at 7:28 p.m. Saturday complained that four or five juveniles on the beach had a bonfire and were "flicking embers at people walking by." A deputy found only two local juveniles, who were quietly playing a ukulele, and advised them to put out their fire.
MARSHALL A caller at 8:57 p.m. Saturday reported cows loose on Highway 1 just south of the Tomales Bay Oyster Company. Deputies called the owner of the cows, and most of them went back into their pasture through a fence that has been down since a fire in Tomales Bay State Park last summer.
INVERNESS Firefighters and a deputy responded at 10:32 p.m. Saturday when a woman on Aberdeen Way fainted and afterward complained of chest pain.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies reported at 1:47 a.m. Sunday that a drunk had just walked from Highway 1 to his home nextdoor.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 11:31 a.m. Saturday complained that a community walkway near Buena Vista Avenue had been destroyed. She said one tenant witnessed another tenant rip up the walkway and put up a barrier. A deputy concluded the incident was not criminal vandalism but a dispute to be handled in civil court.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 3:38 p.m. Saturday showed up at the firestation looking for a deputy to give her advice.
POINT REYES STATION Two sheriffs patrolcars had a minor collision in the substations parking lot at 7:32 p.m. Friday.
TOMALES High school staff at 9:38 p.m. Friday reported that three juveniles, who had been drinking, had just left in a red Jeep with Connecticut license plates and were heading toward Point Reyes Station. The staff member said he had another juvenile in custody in his office. The staff member added that a students father might want to report her missing in a possibly related event. At 9:45 p.m., the father called from Inverness Park to say his 14-year-old daughter had not returned from high school and may be with an 18-year-old girl from Petaluma.
DOGTOWN Deputies and medics at 12:38 a.m. Saturday were called to a home where a woman was unconscious and hemorrhaging.
LAGUNITAS Medics responded at 1:07 a.m. Saturday when a boy in his late teens appeared to be suffering from alcohol poisoning. It was not known how much hed had to drink. Friends drove the youth downtown for a rendezvous with medics.
SAN GERONIMO The Highway Patrol at 2:19 a.m. Saturday arrested a motorist at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and San Geronimo Valley Drive on charges of drunk driving.
FOREST KNOLLS A woman at 7:31 a.m. last Thursday told deputies her 36-year-old boyfriend had taken a swing at her but she had blocked the blow with her hand. She also said he had pulled the phone out of the wall. The woman said her boyfriend had earlier left in her car and returned without it. "This along with other issues started the argument," a deputy reported.
WOODACRE A Carson Road resident at 6:09 p.m. last Thursday reported that a vandal had smashed all the windows in her car during the last hour.
NICASIO A Lucas Valley Road resident at 10:14 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies there was a broken window in her home and that "someone just came through it." She said she thought the intruder might be an animal, but she was home alone and wasnt sure.
NICASIO A Highway Patrol officer on Lucas Valley Road last Wednesday arrested a motorist on charges of drunk driving.
MARSHALL The Highway Patrol responded at 8:37 a.m. last Wednesday when a maroon VW Jetta spun out on Highway 1 just south of the Marconi Cove marina.
SAN GERONIMO A woman on Sylvestris Drive at 9:15 a.m. last Wednesday asked for advice in dealing with threats from her brother. A deputy determined the woman had not received actual threats, but he did tell her how to get a court-issued restraining order to stop harassment.
HICKS VALLEY County Department of Public Works staff notified deputies at 10:13 a.m. last Wednesday that a "cow" was on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. Deputies contacted the Highway Patrol, and a CHP officer later reported that the "cows" were back in their pen.
SAN GERONIMO A woman last Wednesday reported a tan Dodge with a handicapped sticker had hit her car parked on San Geronimo Valley Drive but had not stopped.
MUIR BEACH A man at 1:32 p.m. last Wednesday complained that for the last three or four months he has received calls at all hours of the day from a bill collectors automatic "dunning machine."
INVERNESS A Dream Farm Road resident at 2:57 p.m. last Wednesday reported someone had opened a Sears credit card account in her name and had rung up $4,700 in charges.
DILLON BEACH Deputies received a call at 6:08 p.m. last Wednesday that there were loose cows "all over" Estero Road. A deputy said he would see if a neighboring rancher would be willing to "hold the cows for the night," so the owner could retrieve them in the morning.
WOODACRE A housesitter staying on Central Avenue at 8:43 p.m. Jan. 15 reported a burglar had stolen coins from the house. The point of entry was a backdoor, she said.
WOODACRE A Charles Lane resident at 8:49 p.m. Jan. 15 said she wanted to speak to a deputy about an unspecified incident with her son the previous night. She said that she may know who the suspect is and that she wanted information about getting a court-issued restraining order. A deputy gave her advice.

January 17, 2002 Sheriff's Calls
TOMALES Deputies were told at 8:37 p.m. Friday that a man had been attacked in a bar by six to eight unknown people. About the same time, a man notified deputies that a truck had just run off the Tomales-Petaluma Road. The caller said the motorist was out of the truck and had a bloody nose and blood on the right side of his head. The man was also described as disoriented. Deputies said the man was the same person who had been assaulted in the bar. Firefighters checked on the mans medical condition, and a Highway Patrol officer arrested him on charges of drunk driving.
BOLINAS LAGOON A man at 10:25 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that someone had driven a vehicle into the lagoon. Numerous bystanders stopped, and Bolinas firefighters confirmed there was no one in the vehicle. Because the tide was rising, deputies arranged for the vehicle to be towed out of the water.
POINT REYES STATION A man lost control of his vehicle at 2 p.m. Sunday, and it went into a ditch. A deputy cited the man on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
BOLINAS A man at noon Friday told deputies he was downtown when another man asked him to shoot a game of pool. When he declined, the first man said, the second man threatened to hit him with a pool cue.
BOLINAS A young woman on Terrace Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Friday told deputies she had received a threatening call from her ex-boyfriend about rent. He said he would go to her familys business with his sister to "f-ck her up," a deputy quoted her as saying.
BOLINAS A man on Brighton Avenue at 5:24 p.m. last Wednesday was unable to care for himself after drinking a fifth of vodka. A deputy arrested him on charges of public drunkenness.
BOLINAS Two men had a brief fight at 5:15 p.m. last Thursday near the beach end of Wharf Road. The fight began when one of the men left his shoes in the area and a second man threw them away as "garbage."
POINT REYES STATION A woman showed up at the Sheriffs Substation at 3 p.m. last Thursday and turned in 200 rounds of ammunition for destruction.
POINT REYES STATION A bartender at 10:35 p.m. Monday reported a customer was refusing to leave the bar. The female customer was described as 45 to 50 years old. The bartender said the woman had been verbally abusive to her, as well as "acting out all night." The problem was abated prior to a deputys arrival.
LAGUNITAS An Inverness Park man at 5:52 p.m. Monday notified deputies that a woman about 50 was standing in the middle of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard near Samuel P. Taylor State Park. The woman was yelling at herself, the man said. The park said it would send a ranger to talk with her. However, at 11:38 p.m., the Highway Patrol reported the woman was again standing in the roadway. A deputy determined that she was not sufficiently disturbed to be institutionalized but that she did need a ride to town.
LAGUNITAS An 18-year-old resident of Charles Lane at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday told deputies he had "received a call from someone stating that he was going to come over and mess him up," an officer reported. While the youth was talking with a 911 dispatcher, he held a second phone to the one he was talking on, and the dispatcher could hear "the suspect on the line making threats."
WOODACRE A deputy at 12:16 p.m. Monday located the owner of a vehicle that was blocking Madrone Avenue and moved it along.
OLEMA A female volunteer at 3:58 p.m. Monday told deputies a woman had come into the church crying and said, "I tried to drive into the ocean to kill myself." The woman said she had also taken an overdose of medication because she was afraid of being "put back in the hospital." She drove off in a van.
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 4:24 p.m. Monday reported that vandals have repeatedly torn down 25 mph signs on Mesa Road, as well as the sign bearing his house number. The man told The Light that the removal of roadsigns is endangering children living along Mesa Road. He asked that parents in the area keep tabs on what their children are doing after dark and to report any vandalism they are aware of to deputies.
POINT REYES STATION A man at 10:01 p.m. Sunday complained that he was having a quarrel with his wife, 36, who was refusing to leave his home although she doesnt live there. The wife said her vehicle was broken down in Marshall, but the husband said hed had to call deputies before when she wouldnt leave.
LAGUNITAS A woman on Sunday complained that four vehicles with people sleeping in them were parked off Maple Road. She said they arrived late at night or early in the morning. A deputy admonished the vehicles occupants and told them to move on.
POINT REYES STATION A B Street resident at 9:56 a.m. Sunday reported hearing shotgun blasts on his property during the night. He said he would like a deputy to come to his house but to call ahead. He agreed to call deputies again when he heard shooting.
WOODACRE Deputies received a call at 11:17 a.m. Sunday that a man was lying beside the road and not moving at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Railroad Avenue. An officer noted the man was a transient who was sleeping. He said he had made contact with the man 20 minutes earlier and would check on him again.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Prado resident at 4:55 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that someone had cut down two yucca plants on her property. She said the culprit could be her neighbor, who has previously cut trees on her property. A deputy gave her advice.
POINT REYES STATION A caller at 12:42 a.m. Sunday complained about very loud music along Highway 1. A deputy got the volume lowered, and the people responsible agreed to keep their doors closed while the music was playing. That "should do the trick," the deputy reported.
WOODACRE A Fir Avenue resident at 2:09 a.m. Sunday notified deputies he had just returned home and found electronic equipment and clothes strewn all over Fir Avenue. He said nothing was wrong at his house, but he was concerned about having garbage (which included two cannibalized VCRs) on the street.
INVERNESS A firefighter at 2:15 a.m. Sunday reported hearing 10 or 11 shots, some in rapid succession, from a handgun and rifle. He said the disturbance, which also included tires screeching, seemed to come from Inverness Park. A deputy contacted a large group of juveniles, who said the noise came from a pickup truck as it drove by White House Pool backfiring badly.
INVERNESS PARK A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 4:22 a.m. Sunday reported hearing four loud explosions. He said the noise may have come from juveniles playing with explosives or shotguns. A deputy contacted a group of people, but they were not involved in the disturbance.
INVERNESS PARK A deputy and a Highway Patrol officer at 4:43 p.m. Saturday handled a single-vehicle accident at Bear Valley Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A deputy reported that the elderly driver, who is diabetic, was still in the vehicle. The driver was subsequently arrested on charges of drunk driving.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy at 6:26 p.m. Saturday assisted the Highway Patrol in looking for a motorist whose vehicle had supposedly broken down between Olema and Point Reyes Station. They could not find the vehicle.
STINSON BEACH State park rangers at 11:49 p.m. Friday reported "a large party on the beach." One ranger was already on the scene, and another was on the way. Deputies headed toward Stinson Beach to back the first ranger up but were called off when the second ranger arrived.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 12:27 p.m. Friday said her parked vehicle had been hit by a garbage truck but that the truck driver denied it. A Highway Patrolman determined her vehicle was parked in the roadway.
NICASIO Fire department medics dealt with a case of alcohol poisoning at 3:10 p.m. Friday. A deputy, who also went to the scene, described the victim as "a highly intoxicated individual in a residence."
NICASIO A woman at 6:34 p.m. Friday notified deputies there was an injured deer on the roadway. The Highway Patrol officer in the area radioed that he would respond as soon as possible but he had "a call to go to first, a bat in the house." Deputies were asked to determine if the deer was still around.
INVERNESS PARK A man at 1:38 a.m. Friday called deputies from Vallejo Avenue, saying "a beige sedan ... flashing high beams" had followed his wife home from Point Reyes Station. She said the man was in his 30s and had short hair. When she got out of her car, the wife reported, the other motorist said "something about no problem."
TOMALES A woman at 2:17 p.m. last Thursday complained about her electricity being "still turned off" and her being told she is "not allowed to go into the building."
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 9:54 a.m. Friday complained of receiving annoying calls. A deputy determined there was no merit to her complaint, and she did not want a report made.
BOLINAS A man at 3:49 p.m. last Thursday reported finding a boys bicycle that was silver in color. A deputy checked the area, found the bicycles owner, and determined the bike was neither lost nor stolen.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A West Marin deputy at 6:35 p.m. last Thursday joined firefighters in moving several loose cows off the pavement at San Antonio Road.
TOMALES A woman at 9:02 p.m. last Wednesday reported that a Mazda truck was possibly hanging over a cliff beside Highway 1 three miles south of town. She said there are houses below the cliff, but she didnt know if they were occupied. Firefighters could not find the driver.
BOLINAS An Alder Road resident at 8:42 a.m. last Wednesday complained that her male companion had thrown things around the house and had broken a water cooler. She said her 33-year-old companion had grabbed her wrists and twisted them while she was holding their baby. At 11:32 p.m., she called deputies again and said he was trying to persuade her not to report the quarrel that morning and had tried to lock her in a room. A deputy determined there had been no physical confrontation.
BOLINAS A Fern Road resident at 12:03 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that a man upset over a "deal" had thrown things in her driveway before leaving. A deputy gave her advice.
BOLINAS A man at 4:12 p.m. last Wednesday reported 20 people were drinking on Ocean Parkway, and some of them appeared underage. He said the problem is ongoing, with the drinkers getting "rowdy after sunset." The man noted that the youths run to the end of Poplar Road whenever officers arrive on Ocean Parkway. A deputy gave him advice.
BOLINAS A woman at 4:43 p.m. last Wednesday reported two drunks appeared to be having sex behind a church. She said they were being very loud and that the previous week they had created a disturbance by arguing loudly. A deputy "dispersed" the couple on Brighton Avenue and reported there was "no merit to sexual conduct."
BOLINAS A 14-year-old boy with a history of severe depression tried to jump from a 25-foot-high banister last Wednesday. He was detained in a room and then hospitalized for evaluation.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. INVERNESS PARK A man at 6 p.m. Sunday reported a raccoon acting strange on Bear Valley Road. A deputy found tourists playing with a rabid raccoon, which was having seizures and frothing at the mouth. The officer caught the sick animal in a bag and turned it over to the Humane Society.
POINT REYES STATION A Novato resident left her wallet in a business along Highway 1, and it was stolen, she told deputies Sunday. The woman said the wallet contained credit cards and $10.
BOLINAS A resident at 7:41 a.m. last Wednesday reported a 15 year old had run away; it was not known if the boy was wearing shoes. The resident later called back to say the boy had returned home.
WOODACRE A Madrone Avenue resident at 2:20 p.m. last Wednesday complained that his ex-wife had entered his home and taken property. A deputy gave him advice.
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at 5:10 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies a vandal had punctured three tires on her 1974 Volkswagen, possibly with a knife.
FOUR CORNERS A ranger at 7:14 p.m. Sunday radioed deputies that a bicyclist was riding without reflectors after dark. The ranger told officers that motorists "can barely see this subject on the roadway." When a deputy arrived on the scene, the bicyclist was gone.
BOLINAS A Terrace Avenue resident at 7:43 p.m. Sunday reported someone was screaming in front of her home. She said there was a "bunch of people" outside and a dog barking. She said her husband was now checking on the what was happening. The husband told deputies that a vehicle struck another vehicle and then took off. Deputies were told that the victim of the collision was sitting on the ground trying to determine if medical help was needed.
STINSON BEACH Deputies at 10:45 p.m. last Wednesday reported a small rockslide had fallen near Calle del Mar and Highway 1. Officers told Caltrans, which was planning to clear the roadway, that a "large boulder" was now resting adjacent to the fog-line and that there was "lots of debris on the shoulder."
FALLON A resident at 11:08 p.m. last Wednesday complained about vehicles "racing around the roadway" at Alexander and Fallon-Two Rock roads. One of three cars was stuck in a ditch, but two other carloads of youths were "still racing back and forth," he said. He also said several youths in a vehicle parked at the county line were possibly drunk.
POINT REYES STATION Two vehicles collided near the Green Bridge at 3:24 p.m. last Wednesday. Nobody was injured, and the drivers exchanged information.
BOLINAS A woman at 4:15 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that a 45-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were quarreling in a shelter. The 35 year old was screaming loudly and saying "sick things," the woman reported. Deputies checked Brighton Avenue for a disturbance.
FOREST KNOLLS A Resaca Avenue resident at 8:50 p.m. Saturday told deputies she was home alone and could hear noises in her basement. She said it sounded as if a door was opening and closing and things were being moved around.
DILLON BEACH A man at 10:29 p.m. Saturday notified deputies of a cow on the pavement at Dillon Beach and Middle roads. A deputy went to the scene, found several cows on the road, and requested assistance from the Highway Patrol.
INVERNESS A man notified deputies at 2:59 a.m. Sunday that another man, who had been depressed lately, had called him, so he had gone over to the friends house. His friend was "shaking," the worried man told officers.
MUIR BEACH Deputies at 9:29 a.m. Saturday received word that a big-rig truck was stuck in a ditch at Highway 1 and Pacific Way, blocking both lanes of the highway. A Highway Patrol officer went to the scene, but the truck was gone by the time the officer got there.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 1:18 p.m. Saturday told deputies that another man had pushed him, knocked him down, and threatened to throw rocks at his vehicle. He said he wanted the incident documented but did not want to press charges at this time.
FOREST KNOLLS A woman at 3:05 p.m. Saturday asked for advice in a landlord-tenant dispute. A deputy gave her advice.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 7:20 p.m. Friday reported hearing three gunshots, possibly from a shotgun, in the area of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. She said she had also heard shots the previous night. She asked deputies to check around her home and Olema Marsh. An officer could not find anyone shooting but reported that probably someone was illegally hunting for ducks on Tomales Bay.
INVERNESS PARK A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 7:58 p.m. Friday dispersed a large group of youths.
BOLINAS A woman at 11:16 p.m. Friday reported lots of cars were arriving in the beach-parking area. She complained of noise and said she suspected a large party might be starting on the beach. She later called back to report more noise and more cars arriving. She asked for deputies to make extra patrols in the area.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 11:26 p.m. Friday reported a bonfire on the beach at Alameda Patio and Calle del Arroyo. Moreover, she added, a man was passed out on the beach.
WOODACRE A Redwood Drive resident at 8:51 p.m. last Wednesday complained of receiving a prank call every night for one to two months. A deputy gave him advice.
MARSHALL A Marshall-Petaluma Road resident at 11:02 a.m. Friday notified deputies she had received a call from her 14-year-old daughter that a man had come to their door, but the daughter doesnt know what he wanted. The woman reported that her daughter had said the man left but was now driving past their ranch again in a black Honda.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 12:48 p.m. Friday heard two gunshots. A deputy could not find anyone shooting.
BOLINAS A Terrace Avenue resident at 2:59 p.m. Friday notified deputies that people were outside doing something to the side of the road. Because of a knee injury, he hadnt checked on them until now, he said, but it looked as if the ground had been leveled and as if a no-parking sign had been pulled up and stuck behind a eucalyptus tree.
BOLINAS Deputies beginning shortly after 3 p.m. Friday received two complaints that a drunk man and woman had been in front of a church for several hours yelling and screaming. The first caller asked that an officer move them along.
WOODACRE A tenant at 10:13 p.m. last Thursday complained that another vehicle was in her rental units parking space, forcing her to park on the street. Deputies traced the ownership of the vehicle to a Marin City woman.
WOODACRE A man at 9:52 a.m. last Thursday reported vandalism to his property.
INVERNESS A man at 11:10 a.m. last Thursday complained that a renter had threatened to take things from a residence he owns unless he forgives some of her rent.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 4:45 p.m. last Thursday complained about a homeless man whom, she said, sleeps behind a building on Mesa Road. He leaves empty beer bottles, and a shed has been spray painted, she added. She asked for extra patrols of the area.
MUIR BEACH A caller at 5:26 p.m. last Thursday reported that a truck with two people was stuck in mud half way up a coastal trail. The caller offered to wait for a deputy at the Zen Center, but Park Service Police reported taking care of the problem and removing the vehicle from the trail.
OLEMA A woman at 6:24 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that two cows were on Highway 1 between Olema and Point Reyes Station. A deputy got one of the cows back in its pasture but could not find the second cow.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 8:27 p.m. last Wednesday reported a homeless man was urinating in a corner of the postoffice. A deputy contacted the homeless man and found "no evidence of urination." The man agreed to move along.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 8:41 p.m. last Wednesday reported receiving a call from her 50-year-old son, who said he wanted to kill himself. He was crying and screaming on the phone and might already have hurt himself, she added.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy at 7:15 a.m. last Wednesday reported a large tree had fallen onto Highway 1, blocking the southbound lane. The officer estimated the trunk at eight to 10 inches in diameter. Caltrans and the Highway Patrol responded.
LAGUNITAS A Charles Lane resident at 2:02 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that her son had found a cell phone and wanted to turn it in to them. An officer took the phone for safekeeping and said he would contact the owner.
MUIR BEACH A resident at 2:38 p.m. last Wednesday reported that his neighbor had told him that while he was away, mail was stolen at his house. Some of the mail was supposedly recovered and being held at the Marin City Sheriffs Substation. However, when he checked there, officers had no record of any property belonging to him.
WOODACRE Deputies at 3:30 p.m. last Wednesday received a complaint that people were driving off-road at North Buckeye Circle.
TOMALES A woman at 4:10 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies a local merchant had left threatening messages on her answering machine.
BOLINAS The Highway Patrol at 6:06 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies it had received a report of a man lying in a ditch along Olema-Bolinas Road. The CHP said it did not know if the man was drunk or had been hit by a vehicle. Firefighters went to the scene and found a man, who had been drinking, walking beside the road. It was never determined whether he was the same man who had been in the ditch.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 6:12 p.m. last Wednesday reported a deer had been struck in traffic on Bear Valley Road. It was still alive but dragging its back end, she said. The Humane Society authorized a deputy to shoot the deer to put it out of its misery.
NICASIO A ham radio operator at 10 p.m. New Years Day reported via his radio that a friends vehicle was stuck in a ditch along Nicasio Valley Road and was partially blocking the roadway. Highway Patrol officers and a tow truck were dispatched to the scene.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A vehicle carrying a new resident at the Point Reyes Station Coast Guard facility and his family broke down on Red Hill. The Coast Guard member hitched a ride to the Hicks Valley firehouse. From the firehouse, he called deputies to say he needed a ride to Point Reyes Station since the Coast Guard had no one who could help him.
POINT REYES STATION County firefighters at 4:05 a.m. last Wednesday asked for a deputy to provide traffic control while they dealt with a tree that had fallen across Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, totally blocking the roadway. A deputy officially closed the road.
WOODACRE County firefighters at 4:16 a.m. last Wednesday asked for a deputy to provide traffic control while they dealt with electrical lines down on San Geronimo Valley Drive just east of the water-treatment plant.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 4:31 a.m. last Wednesday reported her 1986 Ford Mustang was stalled partly on a roadway and would not start. A deputy helped move the vehicle off the road.
WOODACRE A Madrone Avenue resident at 9:32 a.m. New Years Day reported her bag had been stolen at SFO. She told deputies a man had called and said he would return it if she gave him her credit card number. She did, she said, and is now receiving unauthorized charges on her credit card.
TOMALES A woman at 11:22 a.m. New Years Day reported that she and her husband are getting a divorce, and he has changed all the locks on property that they both have a common interest in. A deputy gave her advice.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 11:55 a.m. New Years Day complained about a woman and two men, who were drunk, yelling, and screaming. She said they are a frequent problem. A deputy located the trio, found one of them had been drinking but was not drunk, and all three left the area. At 1:13 p.m., however, the resident called deputies back to report the three had returned and were now burning cardboard and yelling at each other. A deputy arrested a 48-year-old man on charges of public drunkenness.
WOODACRE A resident at 2:11 p.m. New Years Day notified deputies that her housemate had taken 70 pills and was now delusional. The 29-year-old housemate was hurting herself unintentionally, not making sense, but was not a threat to others, the resident said.
MUIR BEACH A man at 2:56 p.m. New Years Day complained that a "string of cars" parked on Sunset Way was blocking use of the road. A deputy checked and found no problem.
DILLON BEACH An Oceana Marin Drive resident on New Years Day found her 79-year-old husband dead of heart failure.
STINSON BEACH At 6:20 p.m. New Years Day, a woman was taken from Buena Vista Avenue to the emergency room at Marin General Hospital "in very critical condition." The nature of her problem was not reported.
PLATFORM BRIDGE After a vehicle ran into a ditch, a deputy assisted the Highway Patrol at 2:56 a.m. New Years Day. No one was injured, and the vehicle was freed from the ditch.
INVERNESS A man at 10:32 a.m. New Years Eve reported someone had opened a Sears credit card account in his name. He said he didnt know how the person got information about him.
LAGUNITAS A UPS supervisor on New Years Eve notified deputies that a UPS driver had received a threat during a phone conversation with a resident at the top of Mountain King Road. When the driver told the resident he could not deliver a package to him because of the condition of the road, the resident threatened the driver with "an unknown type of reprisal or revenge," deputies quoted the UPS supervisor as saying.
FOREST KNOLLS A Montezuma Avenue resident a 1:44 p.m. New Years Eve reported his porch light had been broken by a vandal.
SAN GERONIMO A woman at 3:37 p.m. New Years Eve reported her husband had died at home of cancer.
BOLINAS An Elm Road resident at 4:15 p.m. New Years Eve reported that her 30-year-old neighbor was drunk and threatening her. He was "screaming obscenities and not making any sense," she said. The resident noted she was staying indoors with her boyfriend.
STINSON BEACH Park Service Police at 5:54 p.m. New Years Eve reported that a rave party might be planned near Steep Ravine. Numerous vehicles were already on the scene, police said.
WOODACRE Deputies at 9:35 p.m. New Years Eve received a report that 45 youths and 15 vehicles (some of them stuck in mud) were on Fire Road for a party. A deputy abated the party and reported it "looks like it was just getting started."
MARSHALL A resident at 10:38 p.m. New Years Eve complained about loud music in the area of Highway 1 and Clark Road. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
WOODACRE On behalf of a 17-year-old boy, a woman called deputies at 11:25 p.m. asking for help in dispersing a group of youths at his Fire Road residence. The youth was holding a party, but more people had showed up than expected, and things were getting out of control, she said.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD An off-duty Marin deputy on Monday was driving his own vehicle on Petalumas D Street Extension of the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road when a man exposed his penis to the officer.
BOLINAS One man twice struck another man with a pool cue at 1:45 p.m. Sunday on Wharf Road.
WOODACRE The manager of the Improvement Club at 11:22 p.m. Sunday said she had just been notified by an employee that a car was stuck in the middle of the clubs ballfield with two juveniles standing beside it. The youths, whose vehicle had been tearing up the grass, were cited to a diversion program for their alleged vandalism and were released to their parents.
POINT REYES STATION A man notified deputies at 1:28 a.m. Sunday that while he had been in an Inverness restaurant earlier that evening, an Inverness Park man hit him so he struck the man back. Deputies described the incident as "mutual combat."
BOLINAS A woman at 7:53 a.m. Saturday complained that someone had been sleeping for several days in a large, green bus. She said the person was leaving trash around and refusing to move the bus. A deputy determined that the bus had broken down, that a new part had been ordered, and that the garage was supposed to receive it the next day. The person "will sleep elsewhere tonight," a deputy reported.
WOODACRE A woman at 8:51 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that vandals had stolen her neighbors Christmas-light strands and had smashed them on the pavement near the intersection of Railroad and Scott avenues. She said her neighbor had not yet learned about the vandalism and that she would tell him.
BOLINAS A deputy on Wharf Road at 11:25 a.m. Saturday arrested a 33-year-old man on traffic warrants and revoked his probation.
TOMALES A counselor at 7:41 p.m. Saturday accidentally set off a burglar alarm at the high school.
BOLINAS A man complained about motorists driving 50 to 60 mph in the vicinity of Mesa and Olema-Bolinas roads, where the speed limit is 35 mph. He asked for extra patrols in the area.
SAN GERONIMO A man on San Geronimo Valley Drive at 12:33 a.m. Sunday complained because an alarm, which indicates a septic tank is full, kept going off. He said he couldnt turn off the alarm himself and could not find the septic systems owner.
WOODACRE A woman called deputies from the Improvement Club at 7:47 p.m. Friday to report a suspicious man at the club. She said the heavyset man was "talking to himself and acting strange."
PT-REYES PETALUMA ROAD A woman at 11:09 p.m. Friday said her sister-in-law was going through a "paranoid-psychotic episode." The woman said she had learned this from someone who saw the sister-in-law wandering near Olema.
OLEMA A woman at 11:55 p.m. Friday notified deputies she was caring for a couples two year old when the little girl fell and received a small cut around her left eye. She told officers she needed the girls parents to call her at the hospital. A deputy, who made contact with the parents, reported the "child is fine."
TOMALES A woman at 7:01 p.m. last Thursday reported a stationwagon with its windows steamed up had been parked on Wettmore Lane for 30 minutes. A deputy determined the car, which belongs to residents of the area, had broken down.
LAGUNITAS A man, who called deputies from Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 12:41 a.m. Friday, said he and a friend were leaving a party when "a Samoan in a blue, hooded sweatshirt" had grabbed his friend and punched him in the face several times. The caller said the victim did not need medical attention and that they would call officers again after returning home to San Anselmo.
